BF3 PS3 Game freezes on "Rent a Server" and "Store" on CD

Question

BF3 on PS3 - I have 2 servers that have expired, but for the past 8 days, I am unable to access "Rent a Server" from multiplayer or Store from the main menu (PS3/Game freezes/locks up) - I have to pull the power cord and restart.

I downloaded the digital copy yesterday and I am able to access "Rent a Server" but as soon as I do, it kicks me back to the main menu saying "no content available". Premium and Store both work as normal on the digital copy (able to download online pass, map packs).

I have formatted my PS3 (quick and full), restored file system, restored database).

Installed BF3 again from CD and downloaded update 1.09.

Player profile issue? Not related to the game or CD? Servers played as normal, map rotations, no trouble with servers at all.

There is an issue with EA's backend after an update which appears to cause the game to freeze. An EA Community Manager has said that they are looking into it here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-3/Premium-Assignment-Issues/m-p/6965955#M133395

Seem to be a general issue with purchasing items that tie in with your EA account.

Update, 5:30pm EDT, I am able to access "Rent a Server" and "Store" without the game/PS3 locking up.

However, when going to "Rent a Server" returns message "No content available" - "There is no content available for download at this time. Please try again later".

Maybe it's progress, or maybe it's a new error...time will tell.
