BF4 constant crashes in Crossfire R9280x and HD7970

Hey Guys,

last attempt of saving bf4 for me before I give up forever.

The July 8th Patch ruined the game for me. I was able to play CTE prior to the patch going to the main game with no issues but now it is almost impossible to play for longer than 15-20 mins without a crash.

I use two gpus, an R9 280x in crossfire with a HD7970. Prior to this patch I've legitimatly have crashed 4 times and ive been playing since Beta...

To get rid of all the dumb questions.

yes i have reinstalled

yes i have repair

yes i have the latest drivers

yes i have tried disabling one GPU through software.

no this doesnt happen in all games; its just BF4

The crash will sometimes make the whole system hang and other times i can get an error. the errors always change but the most frequent one is :

DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The application's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed. ")

It happens on mantle and direct x and the timing isnt always the same. also i have noticed that it doesnt matter if i am in a taxing gpu enviroment or looking at a wall. it just chooses to crash whenever it feels like it.

any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Reinstall DirectX and VC from the Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer or you can download them directly from microsoft. After you have done this then update Punkbuster just to make sure.

This should fix the DX Hung error.

I had almost the same issues with 2x7970 rig. Try disabling your integrated gpu if u have one. That solvez my problems.
