Hi @ericdabomb309 ,

Error  ( 1 )  is typically the result if trying to join a server upon which your soldier is banned.  Here since January or so, we have had a server side bug, that unfortunately gives same error situation to the player, despite not being banned on the server.  It is typically on servers that you have played previously, that for wrong reason think that you never left them.  It means that the server responds back to you declining you to join it, and provides that error code.

Unfortunately we dont have any solid workaround except that the server's 'player memory buffer' fills up and then in the end your player name will be purged from it's list.  Or another workaround is if the server owner get's the server cold rebooted, so the server cache memory is flushed to start again from scratch.

We have tried to contact EA tech team on this.  Their response was along the lines of being aware of the bug, but that they have no plan to fix it until further.  Sad for us, but just a reality with this old but still great game we play.  Hopefully the BF2042 Portal will be working as a good BF4 replacement for us.  

@CyberDyme that is very unfortunate to hear. it isn't every server, only 1 that i play regularly. somehow last night i was finally able to get on and play, and now im getting the same error

Yeah fully agreed @ericdabomb309 ,

It is a miserable bug that EA has allowed to linger on our BF4 servers now! 

Some players have reported that logging on to 4-5 others servers first, and then going back to the favorite on which you appear blocked have in cases helped them to get back to it.

What appear to catalyze this situation to happen is if the player looses the internet connection to the server during active gameplay, or do not close down the gameplay by going through all the formal Game/Quit process.  

Aka pressing the on/off button on a console may trigger this error situation to appear more frequently if leaving an active gameplay this way, versus if you go through the lengthier BF4/Quit process and then close the BF4 app before switching all off...

Its because the EA BF4 server wrongly thinks that you are still active on the server, as if it never got the signal that you quit from it.  If some EA techie wants to see the hard technical proof of this, then contact me!  (which they didnt followup on previous either, when we last had a lengthy debate on this...)   

@CyberDymeI never had this problem until today when I decided to get premium, and once it downloaded and installed (PS4) it kept telling me that damn Error Code 1, on every server that I choose. From the ones I usually play to the ones Ive never even played. Does premium has a region restriction? Cause I live in the middle of nowhere.

Thing is, once the Premium got installed, I kept having some menu glitches, cant acces Server Browser, cant go to Soldier tab, then later on The menu stopped glitching then I started to have this Error Code 1 problem. 

I don’t know what to do anymore

Hi @Lolo22ans ,

Sorry to hear about that trouble you appear to go through there.  Just to confirm right away:  Premium does not have any regional restrictions, so you can and should be able to search for and join servers across all regions if you want to.  But it does sound like its a composite of more than just one problem that you have though, as your issue with missing menus or glitched functionality on your PS4 is something else then being blocked access to servers and getting the related error code when playing the game itself.

On the PS4 you have a certain data storage space used for temporary caching of game specific data.  And depending on your actions and also power cuts, internet line drops or simply just 'memory leakage' in the game you play, then unfortunately these cached data files can get corrupted over time.  And this leads to things like freezes, game loading errors, connectivity issues or missing or malfunctioning game features/menus.

So from time to time, it is good 'housecleaning practice' to delete those cached game data segments, as it forces the game to reset and clear them on next game start.  Please Note: Performing this troubleshooting step will not hinder your ability to play or use any saved data/progress you have made with your soldier in the game.  So your BF4 soldier is safe and will keep its XP and unlocks etc.   It may however reset to default any customization that you have made on aka your soldier's sensitivity, hitmarker settings, ADS zoom settings etc. 

How to reset your BF4 cached game data on your PS4:

1. Open the Settings menu at the top of the homepage.
2. Select Storage, then select System Storage.
3. Select Saved Data.
4. Choose the BF4 game from the list to access the game's saved data.
5. Press the Options button and select Delete.

This will bring back all the intended menu functions/graphics to your BF4 game on the PS4.

At least we should be now then have solved your problem about missing UI graphics and menu items.

The Error 1 problem that you experience is a different one and unfortunately that is linked to the servers that you try to join to play on.  And the root cause for that is resident on the server system, so its outside your own control.  

If you want, we can try to see what happens if you want to join one of the servers I run.  Because then I can support you along the way and check your status also.  Just at least to confirm that we are looking at the right thing and reason for that if you can play or not is this?
