BF6 skipping PS4 and Xbox One. Is that a bad thing?

So will Battlefield 6 skip PS4 and Xbox One and release only on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC?    And is that not necessarily a bad thing?

The total lack of confirmation about the game's release on PS4 and Xbox One – and the repeated hype and emphasis on "next-gen" certanly hints that way.   Larger maps, more destruction, 128 player games etc are certainly beyond the last generation consoles’ capacity to handle, as already today with current BF games, incl old BF4, its often borderline with terrible rubberbanding, bullet-sponging and what have you.

So it is possible that we could see Battlefield 6 uniquely just for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC.  While a scaled down version for last-gen consoles coming after, or actually maybe never?

Cool looking Ospreys though!  👍

It's a good thing in the long run. I wish BF4 had been developed only for next gen. The current console version really suffered because it was held back by older gen hardware. It'll definitely suck for people without next gen consoles but eventually everyone will catch up and be able to experience the Battlefield that DICE intended for everyone to play.

This specifically.  I played BF4 on all 5 platforms and the PS3\360 versions were heavily stripped down just to make them run on the very old hardware. Caspian Border for example had almost all of the foliage removed for performance reasons compared to the PC/PS4/Xbone versions.  With the horrible launch state of BF4 it was apparent that DICE was spread much too thin working on 5 platforms simultaneously.
