I sat in chat for... I think 1 hour and 30 minutes doing every kind of troubleshooting you can imagine without success. Right now I've deleted everything and re-downloading my purchase from the PS3 store. This is going to take a while, but we'll see what happens. I can tell you if you disconnect the network cable you can access Campaign mode, and that this bug affects the Multiplayer portion. The game freezes trying to connect to the network servers.
When accessing the "Store" icon , that did work while the network was plugged in, and there was some pretty weird stuff going on. The latest news updates flowed into the store items instead of the actual store items, and the price had a weird code on it: Price: D-BLUS31162_00-
Hopefully it was just a corrupted update file, and nothing more serious than that. I suggest re-downloading if you purchased from the PS store, and also delete any Game Data under the Game Data menu. Any patches you downloaded for this game or data delete it and reinstall. See if that works.
I must say, the customer service department was extremely friendly and helpful, and that's the only reason I'm staying optimistic.
