I have found a fix for this, what's happening is that you can't download a UI update for some reason. What you need to do is login to origin with someone elses EA account who also had BF1. Hopefully when you login it'll prompt you to update then you can login from your original account and play.
Also just try to go to the left of your screen and click career and then hit the square button to connect to internet. It’ll ask to update then too. Or at least it did for me
