I just bought the xbox one and bf4. I downloaded/installed the game and the campaign works fine, but everytime i go to play multiplayer i get the message: "You have lost connection to the ea servers. These features will not be available" or something along those lines. I am connected to live so that is not the problem. Is this a problem I can fix, and is anyone else having this problem?
so i talked to support the other day and it may have something to do with internet providers. i myself have comcast, and they said they believe comcast has not updated their DNS servers which is kind of like a phone book. The new dedicated servers have not been listed in this "phonebook" and so this is the reason we can connect to exbox live but not game servers. Sooo their is no patch, and it can only be fixed when the internet provider updates their DNS servers. At least this is the answer i received.
I was also told not everybody on comcast has the problem, but it doesn't mean it's not a comcast issue. I just tried calling thier tech support and was unable to get any info or solution to updating their DNS servers. I believe it's gonna take a collaborative effort between ea, xbox, and comcast (or whatever other providers aren't working) to get the issue resolved. I myself am going to give it a week (til next fri) for them to resolve the problem before I start thinking about returning certain items.
Hey, I got it to work!
Here is what I did:
1. Uninstalled game completely (go into games and apps, "start"button on BF4, delete)
2. Turn off internet (Settings > Network)
3. Reinstall game from disc, should take approx. 30 min. Don't play the game while it's installing.
4. Turn on internet in settings
5. Launch game, you will be prompted to update, accept the update then wait for it to fully install.
6. Launch game, and then it was working for me! No lag, played conquest, working flawlessly.
When the internet was on, it prompts for you to update before the game installs, then takes FOREVER to install and then fails to work online. When internet is disabled, it installed MUCH FASTER.
