Can't launch BF4 with my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

I kept getting this error message at game launch:

Your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for playing this game.
“NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti” GPU does not support DirectX 10.0 which is required.

my Rig:
GPU: GeForce GTX 550 Ti
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40GHz
Memory: 8GB
Driver: 331.65 (NVidia)
OS: Win7 ultimate
resolution: 1600 x 900, 60Hz

I’m told that my specs is good to go for BF4… yet… i face this problem. Any ideas on how to overcome this? And why is the error relates to DirectX 10.0 when i already have an updated DirectX 11 in my Win7?

  • Hi, I'm playing Bf4 on a GTX550ti with no problems.

You might just need to Reinstall DirectX.

    1:go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4\__Installer\directx\redist
2:Find file named DXSETUP.exe and double click it (while connected to the internet). Install it. It should update your DirectX install.
3: You might need to reboot computer first.
    4: try to launch game.

    See if that works.

just tried that... still having the same error message ☹️

And why is the error relates to DirectX 10.0 when i already have an updated DirectX 11 ?

  • Too bad ☹️

I have i7 2600k, 550ti and 8gig Ram just like you and can play fine, so no probs as you said wit your setup.....only difference seems to be you are using Win 7 Ultimate.

    Give this a try:

In Origin - Application settings - Origin in Game - disable Origin in game.

If that doesn't work I'm sure somebody else will come up with a better solution. Problems like this usually have a simple enough solution.

  • Having the same issue here. Win7 Ultimate, GeForce GTX 550 Ti, i7 2600k, 16 GB Ram.

I didn't have this problem until I updated my video drivers. I've tried setting it to run in compatibility mode, does nothing.

Seems to be an issue with 550 Ti and Ultimate users only?
