I'm checking this post everyday so it will not die ^^
but i have this problem long before the fall patch. And i think what the solution is, is something envolved with the router. Routers need to be replaced every 5-6 years. And mine is very old. When i'm the host in other games, the people that play with, sometimes get a lagg spike for 1 sec. The router can't handle that many packages and just shut down for 1 sec. In other games like BO2 , MC you don't need to send a lot of packages to the host, but in BF4 you have a lot of packages to send and the router can shut off very quickly for more than 1-2 sec, and this causes the error: Connection times out.
And in the fall patch everyones settings for the High Frequent Update has been set to High. This may causes that people with bad routers can't handle the many packages they need to send, but did handle the packages send with low settings. BF4 removed the low and medium settings so this might be the problem for the people who got this error after the fall patch.
This is my result out of testing with other games and looking in the router what happend, sometimes I also get kicked out of servers with the error: ping to high ping:9001. I think this is again a error because my router can't handle the packages.
Hope this helps, I'm getting a new router...
I also tought about my router, but i don't believe it is my problem, because i have friends who play at my house using my router, the same way that I use, and they can play without problems : / no lag, no freezing, and no time out ;/.
Thank you for the help! But i think you should first of all test with a new router before buying a new one!

So wait you have friends who play on your router and don't have the problem.... well that denies my solution xD
I also have a second comp downstairs but it doesn't have bf4 on it, so i have to download it. In the meanwhile i will test with the bf4plugin and origin, will post again if i have more news..

GUYS! I THINK I FOUND THE SOLUTION!!!!! IT WORKED FOR ME, GO TO THE FOLDER "DOCUMENTS", GENERALLY LOCATED AT C:\Users\something\Documents AND DELETE THE BATTLEFIELD 4 FOLDER, WICH CONTAINS SETTINGS AND PROFILE SAVES, I KNOW YOU'LL LOOSE YOUR CAMPAIGN AND SETTING SAVES, BUT, ONLY DO IT, OPEN THE GAME, AND BEFORE JOINING A SERVER, DELETE THIS FOLDER, YOU'LL HAVE TO RESET YOUR SETTINGS INTO THE GAME BUT I DON'T GET THE TIME OUT PROBLEM ANYMORE AFTER THIS!
HOPE YOU ALSO GET SUCCESS! PLEASE COMMENT BACK IF SOMETHING HAPPENS!

For me, i have an ASROCK motherboard, the problem seemed to be the utility that came with the motherboard "XfastLan" or something it was called, i think. It's suposed to prioritize gaming packets and give you lower ping etc. -once i uninstalled that baby everything went fine. Might be worth a shot to check what other services and/or utilities you have running in the backgroung via Taskmanager (show processes from all users) and google everyone you don't know.
If this helps, please click the white XP button and to give me some XP.
If this solves your question, click the green solution button and mark it as solution so it can help others with the same problem.
