Hello @BeastMode197051,
Here are a few steps you can try to get your Xbox controller working correctly with Battlefield Hardline.
Check Steam Big Picture Mode:
- Open Steam and go to Big Picture Mode (the controller icon in the top right).
- Go to Library, select Battlefield Hardline, and click on "Manage Game."
- Under "Controller Configuration," make sure it's set to use the Xbox layout.
Disable Steam Input for the Game:
- Still in Big Picture Mode, navigate to the game's settings and find the "Steam Input Per-Game Setting."
- Set it to "Forced Off" or "Forced On" and see if that changes anything.
Check Windows Game Settings:
- Go to Windows Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, and make sure your controller is properly connected.
- Check if the controller works in other games or applications to rule out hardware issues.
Use the Xbox Accessories App:
- Download the Xbox Accessories app from the Microsoft Store.
- Make sure your controller's firmware is updated through this app.
In-Game Settings:
- Launch Battlefield Hardline, go to the Options menu, and check the Controls settings to see if there's an option to switch to controller input.
Disable Other Software:
- If you have any third-party software (like DS4Windows or Xpadder), try disabling it as it might conflict with the controller.
Reinstall Game:
- As a last resort, consider reinstalling the game to reset any potential configuration issues.
Best regards,

So i went into Big Picture mode and did everything said there, no change. I also went into my devices and checked to make sure the controller is connected which it is. I as well made sure the controller was updated. I also checked in game settings for a controller only setting or turn off mouse/keyboard setting which there was not. I dont have third party programs like Ds4 and such. I disconnected my mouse and keyboard as well and it STILL showed PC controls while the Gamepad moved my char. And yes i reinstalled the game as a last resort and that did not work. Ive almost given up at this point, i really like the game and would love to play again but not in this state. In the Big Picture mode config settings it even says the layout is the "official layout for BFH, ive played every game on my PC with this controller but this one is the only one that has given me trouble. Why cant EA just make the game boot up without going through a website like every other game out there .

I did a Google search and there's multiple people saying controller buttons don't show up onscreen for Battlefield 3, 4, and Hardline. I suspect these games probably don't have onscreen controller button support for PC.

Honestly every other single player game out there has no problem doing that on PC, this is the only game ive ever had that does that. I mean why cant they get on it and fix it, shouldnt be that hard...

I imagine that it isn't likely to be fixed because Hardline hasn't received updates for a very long time now, unfortunately.
