I've recieved the same error message
---
DirectX function "GetDeviceRemovedReason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("The application's device failed due to badly formed commands sent by the application. This is an design-time issue that should be investigated and fixed. "). GPU: "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 ", Driver: 33165

I've read through several posts on this issue on EA's sites and many of these posts mention the same issue occuring in BF3, and it's apparently occured in FIFA 14 as well.
I got curious, and nervous, that it may also affect other games, so I ran some.
Batman: Arkham City - Crashed immediately
Saints Row IV - Crashed immediately
Minecraft - Ran just fine, until I went full screen, then it crashed (for crying out loud)
This issue started, for me, after about 10 minutes of singleplayer gameplay in BF4. I managed to get about an hour of singleplayer total and now I can't even start the game
My Rig:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2048MB (Driver version 331.65)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU 3.40GHz
8 GB DDR3 RAM (7.95 GB usable)
OS: Microsoft Windows 8
Right now it would be nice if an EA employee would at least write to let us know if this issue is being looked into.
Edit: After about 30 minutes without playing the games worked fine. I even got to play another hour or so on BF4, but then BF4 crashed. It was during the skip from cut-scene to gameplay. I imagine it was a graphically demanding moment, and that might have caused the crash. The DirectX "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" error caused the crash.
