Do Counter Measures Work?

Hello all, 

I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but counter measures in vehicles never seem to work for me. I do not have footage of this at the moment, but I will try to get some later this evening. 

Here is what happens, I get the beeping noise (this is not the beping noise from MBT LAW), and I immediately deploy my smokescreen, and yet I am getting hit. 

Also is active protection supposed to work against RPGs? I could swear I had it on in my LAV, and I got killed by an RPG. I am not sure if that's supposed to happen or not. 

Either way, I just can't seem to be effective against infantry (except as a gunner), because I am constantly having to deploy my counter measures only to get hit. 

Any insight is appreciated.
