I have discovered that this double XP also applies to medals, so weekly a weekly medal of 25 000 points become 50 000 points.
Any tips to get the most out of the event? Or this type of event in general?

Watch out for Double XP. They can also be combined with XP boosts from Battlepacks to stack the multiple XP gains.

Yes, they count towards both overall rank and class rank. However they do not contribute to the score you need to earn battlepacks. And combined with the current community double XP, you’ll earn XP at 300% (it’s additive and not multiplicative).
while the Double XP event is still going on, I will test whether the triple XP multiplier (combining Double XP event and Squad XP Boost) is really true.
Meanwhile I realized that the ranking progress bar no longer works above rank 150 (max XP is 50,000,000 XP in BF1)

Double XP event + active Squad XP Boost = very fast level up
I played only a conquest with cei-rigotti. (total time is 21 minute)
I started from rank 0, but I became almost rank six in one round (Private VI rank requires 55,000 XP)

1: I do not know if the double XP multiplier affects only the tracked medal, because when I get a medal, I am usually tracking it to help progressing it more easily.
Thank you for the article about leveling up, I was already doing pretty much all that. I am at rank 126 with around 2350 score per minute played globally. I wasn't sure how good that was so I checked the global leaderboards on battlefield tracker and found out I'm 352th best player in the world for score per minute lol! It made my day! 🙂
Just trying to squeeze more cool XP out of the double XP event. The double XP on the medal is great for that (as long as the medal's goals fit my playstyle). And I should activate the squad boost, I forgot to do that to get the multiplicative effect of the double XP event.

2: About your post that your progress bar does not progress from rank 149 to 150. That is very weird. No idea why it happens.

I think it's really true.
I played for a few minutes at the end of a conquest and I got 600 score.
Combat score: 600 XP + Squad XP Boost: 600 XP + Community XP Boost (Dobule XP event): 600 XP = total 1800 XP
