Download Error - the download server is not responding (origin)

So... i guess you all know battlefield 3 is free for a couple days :D

So basically i always wanted it, and now ive got an amazing chance to get it...

I added it to my "origin" library and happily started to download it...

but after 5 minutes i got an error message "Download Error - the download server is not responding"

i just closed it and unpaused the download (started to download it)

but it continued to do that, every 5 minutes.. the download stops and i get the error message... and that makes the game impossible to download..

So i decided to go over here and ask for help, since im desperate :'(

P.S : yes i restarted the computer (still get the error message), and i checked my internet, restarted my router... just nothing works :'(

Thanks for reading, please help me :'(

Same as me ☹️ . In Steam, it just continues to download and we dont have to close popup and continue. They should make something like that.
  • I have the same problem , Your internet connection is not that good it might be so i suggest you to use these

It might fix your problem but first of all ask the company of your internet for better connection

There is some general troubleshooting available here: http://help.ea.com/en/article/connection-issues-with-origin/

However, I would first try to see if flushing your DNS will resolve this issue already: http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-flush-dns-cache-for-windows/

Should it not, you may also want to try changing your DNS server to a public one, such as the one from Google: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

I tried to flush my dns and it got to about 5% before stopping again ☹️ Do i have to flush it every 5% or should i just give up?

  • Dude wtf. Of course it is not an error on the client side... Servers are probably just not good enough for all the people loading BF3 right now...

At night for me bf3 downloaded over 2 gigs without erroring, You just have to keep on continuing/unpausing the download because there's so many people downloading this game that the servers are probably more laggy than my brain in a test situation

  • Me Too i also have this problem, i have full bars and a very fast internet connection, it is really annoying, i hope they sort this out soon.......

The servers are really stressed from the masses downloading the free BF3 which is taking up a lot of network traffic that is usually free (Origin and Steam see this issue during sales). As long as you've added BF3 to your Origin library you can download BF3 at any time not just during the 3 day free event. Just be patient and keep trying to download BF3 and you will eventually get through.
