error code [ref. #10049]

Tried this, it failed.  Tried removing/re-adding, failed.  Was advised to try adding it to paypal - which resulted in the money coming from my bank account instead of from the gift card.

Bottom line:  EA obviously needs to rework their system to properly accept prepaid gift cards.  The fact that people try them repeatedly, they get charged $1 on the gift card for every failed attempt, and their support system is AWFUL - nothing but canned responses over and over again, no actual help provided...

have payed several dollars in tax trying to buy mass effect 1. Customer service told me to check with my bank. I told them i was looking at the account balance and that I had plenty of money for the charges. All that was said to me was "thankyou for your patience and cooperation"

Thanks EA for being thieves and having the least helpful customer service in the history of the concept.

To EA origins, seriously get your sh*t together cause as of right now im done buying from you until this is resolved

I even had a problem with paypal and that has never happened before so i just bought it from amazon.

if you make a paypal account and attach your card to that then use paypal to buy the game it works

 i buyed battlefield 3 but i cant buy mohw so my card information is correct

Yeah, I'm having the same problem trying to buy Dragon Age Inquisition. I know it's not a problem with my card / account because I just bought a game on Steam with it just fine. Guess EA just doesn't want our money. :/

Oh, yeah - and I used this exact same card to make a couple of purchases on Origin during Thanksgiving week. None of the information has changed. Definitely some kind of problem on Origin's / EA's side...

Eh, I'll just go buy it on G2A I guess for a couple of dollars more rather than deal with this aggravation.

i am getting that problem was told they use Prepaid Visa card went to buy one waited 24 hours to buy sims outdoor retreat then told me cant errorcode 10049

spoke to Origin the excuse was the guy who help with this is currently not there come back in few hours he help you

Hi! For starters sorry for my English. I try to buy the MySims game that is worth € 4.95 and gives me the # 10049 error. Try 4 times, between the bank and have charged me 4 €. Why? How I can fix it? Is it a product of fraud? Because with that card I bought today in most sites there is no problem. It has never happened to me ....
