FPS DROPS

I have a gtx970 and more than enough of everything to run this in much higher modes but even that aside.. My gpu is not heating up, my cpu is not being used past maybe 70% and albeit I have only 8GB ram it should not be an issue here given my 970 is a 4g. In the lowest setting with everything turned off i can pull frames from round about 80-110 and still not heat up anything, however the game is damn near unplayable because of the fps massive and very random drops to the tune of about 1-8 fps when ever it feels like it.. I have not noticed much difference in the amount this happens between preset settings and have turned off and on pretty much everything multiple times. Every once in a while it will run smooth for about 2-5 minutes and then back to the lurching it goes..

I have updated all my drivers (yes the most recent one on the 20th)

I have even updated and installed all the windows updates to this point (8.1)

I have checked my directx with dxdiag and everything is in order

I have deleted the settings folder and started the game again

I always run my pc in the old msconfig smart start and even with nvidia processes (the only ones allowed on right now) turned off it makes no difference

I run at 200fps in the menus but for w/e reason leaving a game and entering it takes forever because it will drop to 1-3 fps JUST TRYING TO LEAVE a game..

I really like this game and would hate to have to refund it but I am completely out of ideas.. if it helps the little yellow frames box shows up and never leaves when I'm playing.. occasionally turning red. I have not encountered another game on this pc I could not get to run smoothly and that includes bf4, overwatch, fallout 4 u name it.. this is only game doing this to me.. also if its worth noting.. it does happen in single player as well but to a much lesser degree... sorta... (drops from 90fps to 22 which is still jolting and not much better)

Semi recently did a clean install of drivers so i doubt that is the issue.. at this point I cant even guess at what to try next other than maybe adding more ram? To compensate I set my vram to like 16gb so again I doubt that's the issue.

I have spoken about this at great length on various forums but yes I have ran a process check while playing and it had no suspicious activity of any kind. That being said..

This is a loooooot of work but.. I created a partition on my hdd and dedicated about 200g to it and installed windows 10 or more importantly direct 12.. After installing ONLY game related things to the partition (stuff like msi afterburn) my gtx 970 now fully engages in directx 12 mode and I run the whole game in ultra at about 70 - 100fps fairly smooth...

All that said.. I will continue to attempt to get this to work on my main pc windows 8.1 but it's not looking good.. I don't know what to say other than you it looks like you need clean installed drivers and window 10 to run it.. I think that is garbage.. But so far it's proven true for me. I have a few more tricks to try that involve Nvidia settings but I'm not optimistic...

The irony is now it runs in every setting where before it didn't matter what setting I had.. I'll report back if any new info I find is helpful.

Same problem here...I want to play but it's so frustrating having a 2 seconds freeze every 6 seconds.

Thank you for the detailed posts. I wonder is it possible  to run the game in Windowed and run the performance monitor while you play, and see if there are any spikes or suspicious activity?

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749115(v=ws.11).aspx

I know my game normally runs smoothly, but I started encountering some nasty stutter. It turns out that my HDD was hitting 100% due to another process running.
I'm not saying that this is exactly what's happening to you, but it may help point things in the right direction.

Also if you're affected by this please post your dxdiag. Any information we can gather on this should be helpful.

Just finished testing Boyz and the verdict is in... Gtx 970 freaking hates any version of direct X 11 you can find. I tried everything under the sun and only running this game in directx 12 on an operating system I didn't even freaking have.. Made any difference.. And it was a huge one..

I went back to 8.1 and it ran like dog * in the snow, same for win 10 and 11x.. Some maps are amazing some are meh.. It def still needs a patch but for now with adjustment I can run it good enough to play so that will have to do for now.
