German keyboard (input) not recognised in-game

So I have the English version of BF4 installed, since I am English.

I am living in Germany since 4 years and had to switch to a German keyboard due to the needed special characters for the language (öüß.. etc..).

Since switching the keyboard, when I go to my keybindings to change a key, my keyboard is not recognised.

So when I press on "POS1" for example, the key shown in the action window is DELETE. "Bild" is shown as HOME

etc etc..

this is really annoying, since I can not check what actions are bound to which key, as they are all displayed incorrectly.

How do I correct this so BF recognises a German Keyboard input?

Thanks

  • Hey there,

As I am aware Battlefield 4 doesn't support any other language inputs other than English and Russian. You'll have to stick to English language input.

  • I think that this may be a region conflict, it is possible that the UK game is not programmed for German characters which may be the source of your conflict. It may help if you can use a UK locale specific keyboard when using Battlefield 4.

okay it isn't a real solution but then i guess I will just have to live with that.

Shame since I would have imagined that such a company would have cross-input compatibility regardless of which language version is installed, or, giving the user to manually change this afterwards.

I would actually not have a problem changing the whole language files to German if it meant it accepting a German keyboard.. but even that I heard is very hard to do, and requires you changing your Origin language installation, moving files, altering registery settings and then faking a new install to get the correct language files.

    no thanks

Cheers guys for your help and have a good new year
