HD texture pack query

I've invested at least 913hour into BF3, but during all this time I've been curious as to - 

Does the mesh distance increase when you remove the HD pack? (I'm guessing it gets even worse) 

The main reason I ask this above question is because the mesh distance on the jets is terrible, you have to be about 100m away to actually be able to see infantry in cockpit camera, which isn't right (There is hardly anytime to adjust). I have 30,000 jet kills on Xbox which is the main reason I ask. I want to be able to effectively strafe infantry without the need to use Guided Missile (which is terrible against vehicles), thus why I ask the above question.

    I'm pretty sure the mesh quality is fixed on the xbox. For frame rate reasons (As you know).

    So even if I did remove the HD pack, it would still be the same in the end?

    Yes. If you really want to try it, just copy the HD texture pack somewhere else, but i don't believe it will make a difference.
