How to fix: "Invalid License. Reason code = Missing DLL: dxgi.dll Function: CreateDXGIFactory1" ?

I just bought this game and have been trying to fix this problem for ages now. I've seen other posts about this problem and none of these "fixes" work what so ever. I have re-instaled directX like 10 times, I've deleted Origin and Battlefield 3, I've downloaded the Service Pack 2 for Vista, and what really got to me was having to wipe my hard drive and re-install windows which was recomended by EA to fix this problem. Well my problem is still not fixed, not happy with this game right now. My specs are as followed and by the way I know my graphics card is compatible because my friend plays on the same one:

Intel i5 3350P 3.1 GHz Quad-Core CPU

Nvidia GT 520 GPU

8 GB Corsair RAM

Intel DH77EB MOBO

Cooler Master 460 W PSU

Windows Vista 32 bit

500GB HD

-P.S: I would really appreaciate a fix I love this game for the Xbox and I heard it's way better on PC so I built a PC just for this game which apperently doesn't even work, so please help me.

Those fixes worked then I turned my computer off for the night, turned it back on then didn't work again. I tried exactly what I did last time and now that doesn't work, now the game says it's launching and nothing happens. This is really annoying, im sorry but as much as I love the battlfield series this kind of ruins it. No matter what I do it seems to fix nothing, please help me.

  • FIXED FOR ME! Yeeehah! Finally.

I did all the other things and nothing made a difference - checked Direct X was up to date (it was) , re-installed my nVidia drivers completely. Plus all the other things. Anyway I run Windows 2008 Server R2, rather than Windows 7 or 8 because i am a developer, and then found this page:

    http://www.win2008workstation.com/missing-xinput9_1_0dll/

Now i have used this site before because i have a server as a desktop machine, so i know that it is bug-free - i,e, no someone trying to put a trojan on my computer. I downloaded the file and run it (it installs a (missing) direct x dll on your machine) and now the damned game works!!!!!!!

The reason i had problems is because on the server OS those files are not installed at all.

There is also the issue of 32 bit (x86) and 64 bit (x64) versions of the file. If you have a 64 bit OS then you will probablty need both versions, and i could be wrong but i bet other people who have problems under windows 7 and vista are just having a version problem where one version is installed but both are needed.

Anyway i hope it helps 🙂

Hi i had this problem something worth looking at is in C:\Windows\System32 on vista 32 there should be a file called dxgi.dll right click it and go to properties then click the details tab.

Where it says file version mine was 6.0 etc and the game would not load giving this error i updated that file in that folder to dxgi.dll with a file version of 7.0 in C:\Windows\System32

    https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxsGW3NIIkVfc1d2WDF1REVnOUE/edit?usp=sharing ) dxgi.dll v7.0

just copy and paste the file if you have permission problems you will have to take ownership of dxgi.dll in the system32 folder if you dont know how to do that google taking ownership of a file in vista.

I also put a copy of dxgi.dll v7.0 in C:\Program Files\Origin Games\Battlefield 3 folder not sure if that did anything but didnt hurt to have it there anyway.

I had tried everything else i had seen on these forums and this was the ONLY thing that would work for me following a fresh install of vista to get another game to work the joys of pc gaming it wont change just find a way 🙂 hope this helps someone like me sorry if it doesnt.
