How to run BF3 on integrated graphics chip

First off, my specs,

Intel B950 Dual Core 2.1 GHz

Intel HD Graphics Family

4 GB RAM

Windows 7 64 bit

I acquired BF3 from the "On The House" promotion, and there were no problems with download or installation. The Game just wont start.

I understand my graphics chip is unsupported, but I actually have launched and loaded into the game multiple times and been able to play. I just can't load in consistently.

My chip currently has 64 mb of dedicated RAM, and my BIOS doesn't support increasing that amount. Is there some way to start BF3 working around the 512 mb VRAM minimum ?

NOTE:

I can play DayZ with around 20 fps, my laptop should have no problem playing BF3, just starting the game

There is not. You can set the max amount of memory but not min. The game should

use what it requires. It's alos not the amount memory but the hardware itself (gpu/cpu)

    as already stated previously.

You have not mentioned the game settings or the exact Intel HD series number (just intel hd family)

but if the 7fps from the screenhot was already on low settings then it will not get better.

It was never intended to run on any such crippled hardware.  You are lucky to get as good a result as you have done this far.

  • So there is no way to get past the 512 mb minimum? I have my chip configured to use up to 1.8 GB

It's not the main system memory allocation that cripples Intel's video, it's a combination of the inherent design, the comparative slowness of main memory versus dedicated graphics memory, and a myriad of lesser influences.  IGPs, as Intel devices, do not get serious engineering concern.

AMD, on the other hand, is getting closer and closer to gaming class performance from their APUs, which integrate the graphics into the onboard high speed RAM caches inside their processors.
