Hello its_diesquivel19,
They announced the shutdown a few months before shutting it down. More than enough time to catch up.

Still not the enough time. I picked up the game as soon as the announcement was made and made to secure the online pass just hours before it was delisted on July 31, 2024. While I and other players had coordinated achievement hunters groups, we were swarmed by two things:
- The dumbest decision to remove the Server Rental feature, because by that my group of players could've easily get the trophies in 4 weekends, and yes, because it was tied to the now delisted DLC, it was useless.
- Most people would've been playing just for playing "until the death" of the game, which ofc disrupted our sessions trying to boost to level 45. Those people ofc were just normal players not going for achievements but still, it disrupted players focused on getting all trophies and the Platinum.
I got to say, I wasn't interested on DLC anyways. I was trying to get the platinum before it was gone, to at least secure one platinum on PS3 (after Bad Company and Bad Company 2 were already closed which was to me totally stupid) but because of that I can no longer anymore. There are out there private servers already that restored BF3, but I don't want to use them anyways because it's not the same experience of the now gone official servers.
People be saying to me like "you had 13 years to secure a copy of the game and you just bought the game in 2024 just when the shut down was announced", bruh, over the 13 years the game was online my economic situation doesn't had let me acquire PS3 games that easy, mostly because of studies and all sorts of things like that. So it was no surprise I had to acquire the game fast but still, because of that factor of the stupidity of removing Server Rentals that could've easily been left in the game. I couldn't acquire PS3 games that easy because I was just a kid when I got gifted the console in 2014, and over the years I would only receive 1 or 2 games as a birthday gift or something like that. It wasn't until 2020-2021 when I started to get games by myself, and ofc, while I had an option to buy BF3, well it's yikes because I never saw the game getting a offer on the PlayStation Store (and should've been get a price redux on the digital version when the shut down was announced but because for EA PS3 and Xbox 360 are "legacy janky hardware" never occurred) and so.
