^ Thanks for the reminder, the range is also an issue, I have spotted people running below me and tried to "assassinate" them AC style, there is a very quick but noticeable delay when you hit the ground but spamming the knife button allows me to "trigger" the knife animation so as the person is running I end up with this reach of like 5-6 meters and just slide n' drag into it.
The whole "animation" makes the knife an impractical weapon. Back in 1942/ BF2, you would use your rifle, then side arm and then the knife would always be there as a last resort. Also, it was a great silent, stealthy weapon, unlike today where you have a <50% chance of making it out alive if more than one player is present.
