Hi everyone,when playing BF4 my FPS sometimes drop to about 25-35. This happens regardless of what graphics settings I'm using (even on low).I think my CPU might be the bottleneck here but I just wanted to check back so I don't end up spending money on a new CPU and then get low FPS anyway.So here's my setup:CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE (@ 3.4GHz)GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290MB: Asus M5A97 Evo R2.0RAM: 2x4GB Corsair XMS3I know the CPU doesn't meet the requirements for high settings on BF4 but when I check the task manager while playing the CPU isn't maxed out to 100% and that makes me wonder if the CPU is really the problem:Thanks in advanceBlekmetla

Are you currently using any hardware tweaking utils? such as Core Unlockers or Razer Cortex to boost your FPS's?You might want to try googling hardware tweaks and see what comes up in the search engine.First thing I would do is google:GPU tweaks2ndly: CPU Core unlockers or CPU Core unlocking3rdly: HDD/SSD tweaking ...You can disable certain things within windows to optimize your game play like reducing your Visual Effects via right clicking [My Computer] > [Clicking on Advanced System Settings] > clicking the [Advanced] tab > [Settings] > [Adjust for Best Performance] . Click OK. This will reduce your system settings and will optimize your game play. to set back to the original settings, just go back and click whichever setting it was set prior to clicking [Adjust for Best Performance] ...If you're getting poor ping or bad lag within the game, you can also download software which will also optimize your game play. I will upload the system settings I use for mine to my web site and provide a link in a bit ...Till then, hope this helps a little bit ...

really couldnt tell you one way tor another ... all depends on you hard drive, if its an older SATA being a spindle based drive you may or may not see a difference. dont know your current financial status but if you can afford to, go out and buy a 240GB SSD. you will see a difference with game load time as well as a few other improvements over the old spindle based drives. not saying throw away the old HDD (Hard Disc Drive). use it as a back up for other programs non-essential to your gaming such as MS Office or whatever. install Windows OS (Operating System) onto the SSD and Battlefield but use the SATA HDD for the other stuff ...just don't overclock anything. OC'ing (Overclocking) will void your warranty unless it is factory OC'd.I have to this day, never seen a huge difference in OC'ing hardware to non-OC'd hardware. and really don't care to void warranties just to get a if at all 3% increase in speed difference compared to purchasing hardware only to have it fail and NOT be covered under the manufacturers warranty ...

I had the AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE overclocked @ 3.2G Hz --> 3.5GHz and I also had issues with it dipping to low fps's when alot happened on the screen. Core unparking and an SSD helped getting the minimum FPS up but never was a stable 60FPS.

I already have an SSD (Samsung 850 Evo 250GB) but I still had the game on the HDD. I thought the hard drive only affected loading times but not FPS.I moved BF4 to the SSD now and I'll check out some Core unlocking for the CPU. I'll see how much that helps and then report here

Ok I looked up some info about HW tweaking like core unlocking etc. and found out that my MB does not support core unlocking. The only tweaks regarding the GPU included overclocking and I don't want to do that. I also think my GPU is not the limiting factor because it's quite a good one and it's already stock OC'ed.Moving the game to the SSD helped reducing loading times between rounds but it did not improve the FPS.So I guess the only way to get a steadily high framerate is to buy a new CPU. I'll probably get the FX 8350 when my budget allows it.Thanks for your support!

You might want to try googling hardware tweaks and see what comes up in the search engine.
First thing I would do is google:

I'm about to post a link for FTP files I have collected that are directly related to hardware tweaking. I have to re-upload them as I didnt create the proper directories. am in the process of doing so now ...
