Menu lag, and mouse click issues BF1 PC

I've reinstalled the game since not playing for a while and now have some major issues with the game menu.
While playing a match i have absolutely no problems but as soon as i am back in the menu i have horrible lag and my mouse clicks wont register for about 90 percent of the time.
i can still move the mouse and the menu buttons light up when i pass over them but i have to wait about a minute before any clicks i make register.
After they register it also takes a long time for the menu to react or the new menu to open.

i have tried repairing the game, to no effect. Also the actual game play has no issues so i doubt it is a specs problem.
Any help is much appreciated.
