@FreMo1974 It's not usually, more random. There are no codices for all these puzzle piece weapons:
the Sawtooth Knife,
Bartek Bludgeon
the Saber
the Billhook
the Kukri
the Grapling Hook
the Prybar
that's 7 puzzle piece weapons with no codex vs only 4 that do have a codex, being:
Dud Club
French Butcher Knife
Russian Award Knife
Russian Axe

The Kukri is a particularly egregious omission as it was a very elite British unit, The Gurkha's that use it. And I bet more saw service than say the Welsh Blade (I just checked, 90,000 Gurkha's served, and 20k died). I only know this because my dad served in the Royal Green Jackets in the 1950s, and taught Gurkha's attached to the regiment (and how I knew about the Kukri - I think he may have even owned one?).

My memory is the story once it was removed from the scabbard it had to taste blood (apparently a myth).
