No matter how good the next BF looks, you need to really nail anti-cheat

Look right now there is only speculation and no one knows if it will be crossplay with pc, so that part of the discussion I'm leaving out. Really people cheat on consoles just as much as PC.

That said ,it does not matter how good you make the game look or what you add to the game IF you do not also spend quite a bit of time and resources on stopping the cheaters early on and through out the games life span. The better you do at this, the longer the player base can enjoy your creation as well the longer and more your company can profit from that creation.

You really need to invest in some type of systems that trys to detect cheaters ( like strike pack users) and hardware ban those fools early on to send a very clear message.

Also it would be nice if you added a type of system like in PUBG where you can instantly report someone from in game and when you do along with the report it sends a video clip of the last 1 minute of gameplay. This could help those looking at reports with video evidence quickly plus it makes it easier for people to report. Yes i know some will abuse this but you would also have more people actually reporting cheaters more as well. If this game is riddled with tons of cheaters people will walk away from it much sooner than they would have otherwise which is bad for the playerbase and your company's profits . I know its not a simple and easy issue but your company has the money it really needs to invest heavily on ways it can work on detecting cheaters on its own really.

Another thing you can do , is learn from COD( yeah im not a cod fan but i think they have a good thing they are working on). Shadowban the cheaters when detected and force them to only be able to find matches with other cheaters. Starting off at launch and showing the community you take a hard stance against cheaters is one of the best way to deter your game becoming talked about like the current Warzone is . Thats what happens when you don't start off out of the gate going hard against the cheaters. Please make sure you are not overlooking this very important issue that plagues many online games today !

TBH. 3rd party anti cheats like BF4DB and Battlefield Agency work quite well.

Sure there are false positives sometimes. But they catch most cheaters and nearly all of their bans are supported with valid proof.

At least they allow players to experience a nearly cheater free experience in Battlefield 4...

Cannot say this about the BF1 and BF5  tbh...

@H3dius Yes, the third party server scripts made the private servers a lot more fair, functional and livable.
I felt more certain that if I lose badly one round that it will not be the same next round with the scrambling etc.

BF4DB and BA are not Anti-cheats. They are simply a comprehensive community ban list. I ban you on my server for any reason (you shot me)...boom you're in the BF4DB. Any server running BF4DB will now not let you join.

That's wrong : " I ban you on my server for any reason ("

Show me when this happened. This is what metabans did.

BF4DB is well moderated by their administrators and mods and bans without proof are very uncommon / not a thing.

Their ban policy is very well made.

A server admin cannot decide if someone gets banned there. Server admins can only report players there and mods will check the provided material.

  • @UP_Hawxxeye You need a massive amount of paid staff to review reports. In general PubG doesn't have enough staff for this so most temp bans simply sit until expiration.

I've pushed the proposal to have a report ranking system. Each report you submit that's false you get hit with a rank reduction. Once your rank reaches n your reports aren't sent. UI still works, but never truly submits. Basically functionality is shadow banned for x days.

Reports with actionable violation increase your ranking.
    1.0 base rank
Deduction: 0.05 ... min rank clamped at 0.05
Increase: 0.05 ... max rank clamped at 1.0
Penalty kicks in at 0.5 ranking
  • @H3dius dedicated server, just a privated, rented server only, there was no a administrator . it is either the AI or the person/people whom the renter assign or he manage himself when he are on the server. Normally, it is runniny by the AI under set criteria only. but its tier still be lower than official server, normally

I know. I was only mentioning one of the reasons why i uninstalled BF1 and BF5 again and went back to bf4^^

PSN actually do a fairly good job at this, and Sony follow much the same guidelines as you here propose!

Any reported offender is penalized with time off the PSN network/multiplayer environment proportionally to the severity of 'the crime committed'.  And repeat offenders face a quickly escalating penalty ramping up.  Days off -> Weeks off -> Months off -> a year off -> permanent off.  And the ultimate = Your PS4 is permanently banned from PSN.  So not even sell-able or valid for other player profiles to use for PSN.

And at the same time:  Any incorrect reporting of others, then the reporter will get penalized in similar fashion.  Hence, a good self-regulating regime.  And if you have a solid track record of valid reporting, then you get fast-track service and attention from the SIE team.  Often just within 3-5 minutes from you posted your report.  Sony is doing this to support their 100+ million worldwide users.  So its not a question about it needs some staff to do this and cost a bit of money to employ them.  It is not a question.  It is not just a nice to have.  It is a must have, its the cost of doing business and staying in business!

Hello there, if you suspect cheaters in any of our games I recommend that you take a look at our article on how to report players.

As per our message here I will be closing this topic.
