Origin crashes on Startup

Origin keeps crashing after the login screen. no error message or crash log. It just refuses to open.  Several help pages suggested I delete the Origin file in my Roaming folder and restart. This works about 25% of the time, and i am able to get into origin.

Apparently this has been an ongoing issue since 2011, judging by the help posts I have found. If anyone has found a work around, let me know.

Also, it crashes my audio and my youtube videos after it fails to run.

  • Applications crashing on startup has been a thing since the dawn of computers. It has been crashing since 2011 since that's when the application was released which is true for all other applications as well.

    Try manually uninstalling Origin:

    https://help.ea.com/en-in/help/origin/origin/manually-uninstalling-origin/

    Then:

Check Hard Drive For Errors And Corrupted Files

All files can become damaged. This is just the nature of hard drives. Do this for all hard drives that has Windows and the game installed.

    1. Go to "This PC" in Windows and right click the hard drive and click "properties"
      Rightclick harddrive
    2. Go to "Tools" and and press "Check"
      tools then scan drive
    3. Click "Scan Drive" and let it scan for errors.
    4. If it finds errors let the program fix them
(If there are errors it could mean nothing, but it can also suggest that it might be time to format your computer and/or replace the hard drive)
    5. Reboot your computer
    6. Run the scan again
    7. Keep repeating step 3-5 until no errors are found.

    Then install Origin again.

  • Followed all steps. Didn't work, still crashed in the same way.

Re-followed all the steps again. Same thing.

Did the hard drive scan find errors that it fixed?
