ORIGIN Gift Card USD Usable in Canada?
First off sorry if this is the wrong topic, but anyway this is a simple "yes" or "no" answer I cannot find anywhere, here is my problem.
So I currently want to buy the Battlefield 1 Premium which costs $65.99 here in Canada (I live in Canada), before taxes. My problem is, I buy video games with visa gift cards and right now I currently have 2 cards, one being $34.86 and the other being $48.64 which = $83.50 total. Now since Origin is not Steam, and for some reason you can't simply add funds to your account with a credit card, and ONLY add funds with a stupid origin gift card (that aren't even available in CAD for some other stupid reason) it seems as if I cannot buy Battlefield 1 Premium. However I could buy a $20 USD ($27.06 CAD) Origin card KEY from walmart with my $34.86 card for example, which is actually about $27 CAD value instead of "$20" which would mean I would have $27 (assuming the conversion works correctly) on my account, then I could just use my $48.64 card to finish off the purchase.
So really what I'm asking is, If I have possession of a ORIGIN Gift Card from USA with USD on it when I live in Canada, with a Canadian IP, on a 100% Canadian account, would I be able to redeem the US Gift card on my Canadian account, or will it be declined due to me using a Canadian account?
Hey @-204-JoeZ,
TL;DR: No.
The Origin Cash Card must be redeemed in the country where it was purchased. So you cannot purchase the card in the USA and apply the funds to your Canadian account wallet, unfortunately.
Other Payment options for Canada would include Credit Cards and PayPal.
