Solved

pnkbstrb.exe stopped working

I have had a good few games last night and also this morning before I went to Uni. Now I came back got back on and played a few more games but then all of a sudden just as we were about to win it crashes and gives the the error message as shown in the title, now every time I join a server punkbuster crashes but this time it leaves the game running. When I die however I'm left with 1hp and when I finally get to the deployment page I cant spawn. Clicking deploy just doesnt work.

I have tried re-installing punkbuster through the bf4 folder via the exe in administrator mode. It did nothing.

I am also running windows 8 if that helps.

I am reinstalling the game as I type this. I will be back to update you on whether or not this helps. If it does then this could potentially be the only fix for it.

EDIT:

Re-installing the game did nothing. Here are a couple of screenshots.

    found this procedure:

"Service communication failure... and something about pnkbstrb.exe.

Well i have solved the problem and wondered if anyone else had a similiar problem.

If so then download the following
    ▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼

1-pbsetup: Even Balance Technical Support - Download

    2-pbsvc : http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe

    ▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼

1st... Open pbsvc and and click uninstall... Then open it again and click install(be sure u are running as administrator)

2nd... open pbsetup and add your required game... then click look for updates.

once you have done this then click start and run services... look for pnkbstrb... if its there then everything is cool.

if you still have problems the open services and make sure that it is set to automatic.

    Worked for me

  • Same issue as OP. Played a couple of games last night without any issues. Now, I get the same error message. I click Okay, then leave bf4.exe running. It loads to the Map loading screen after 3-5 minutes. The game loads in 20s.

Here's the crash report dump: http://www.sendspace.com/file/m0bu0h

Also, the blue ribbon at the botton stays blank until the game loads. It goes straight to "PLAYING BATTLEFIELD 4 BETA ON PC".

EDIT: I re-installed PB and the error stopped. I ran the installer as administrator.

Did this numerous times and it did not work. But all of a sudden it did. Weird. Thanks btw.

@eralmacr yeah I did your steps too to make sure it was automatic just in case. It was. Thanks 🙂
