I found this solution that worked for me:
If you purchase Battlefield 4 from the EA app, you will not be able to launch it directly from Steam. Games purchased from the EA app are tied to that platform and cannot be launched or played via Steam. However, you can add it as a “non-Steam game” to your Steam library for convenience, but this will still require the EA app to run in the background. Steps to add Battlefield 4 (from the EA app) to your Steam library: Open Steam and go to your library. Click Add a game in the bottom left corner of the Steam window. Select Add a Non-Steam Game. Browse your computer for the EA app or Battlefield 4 executable file and add it. Once added, you can launch it from Steam, but the EA app must still be installed and running. Please note that even if you link your EA Account to Steam for other games, Battlefield 4 purchased from the EA app will not be compatible with Steam.
