PS3 Battlefield 3 freezing up.

Everytime I try to access the multiplayer/friends/premium/or anything online based from the main menu the game freezes up like its loading but does not load. Why is this happening and are there any fixes.

I've tried resetting the PS3, trying another disk, checking network connectivity, even having another player invite me to a match in progress, still the same thing everytime. I have tried everything but completely reinstalling the game, but not really looking forward to that.

    I think i solved my freezing problem. I went to game data utility and deleted game data. Then started the game when asked to install update i cancelled and instead installed from disk. When i started multiplayer I chose to install update, but this time the update file was much smaller. Now it plays fine no more freezing.
