"Random" BF4 Multiplayer Crashes Mid-Gameplay
I've been really frustrated with the crashing I've been experiencing for a while now, especially since the game ran flawlessly on (I think) the exact same settings - both in-game and for overclocks and power management and such - for a good time back in January or February. Now though, the game will freeze suddenly and crash to the desktop as a standard Event ID 1000 application error, giving the "has stopped responding" or "working" message that Windows 10 does.
I think it's whenever I'm turning my head in-game because there's usually blur, so maybe usually (keep reading) it has something to do with a graphics/rendering error, but it's quite inconsistent and sometimes I can play 2-4 games in a row without experiencing any problems, and other times it will crash before I can even finish a single match. It's even crashed once before in the same manner on a loading screen for a map I don't remember, which points to it not being a graphics-related issue, right?
I've tried numerous solutions including some strange ones provided by a support call from EA back in May I think, but nothing thus far has solved it. Here's a list of all that I can remember:
- Turning off either and both of my CPU and GPU overclocks
- Closing background applications
- Clean booting with the services disabled that I could afford to while still being able to play the game
- Restarting computer, game
- Repairing and reinstalling game, even to different drives
- Running Origin and BF4.exe in compatibility mode, administrator
- Deleting that profile file that doesn't actually do anything besides reset your graphics settings
- Playing in browsers other than Chrome
- Rolling back graphics drivers
- Disabling Origin In-Game
And here are my PC specs:
- i7-4790k @ 4.8GHz, 1.275v (Manual mode), cooled by Nepton 240m
- Corsair AX860 PSU
- MSI Gaming 6G 980Ti @ 1450MHz core and 3758MHz memory
- 32GB of G.Skill Trident X @ 2400 MHz
- Seagate 2 and 3TB HDDs, 250GB (boot) and 1TB Samsung SSDs
If any more info needs to be provided, just let me know.
I've been playing on maxed out/ultra settings at 1440p/100+avg FPS and have been getting no problems besides these crashes. If anyone can provide some insight into what may be going wrong or some other solutions I can try, I'd be extremely grateful as I love playing this game with my buddies and this problem is severely holding me back.
