Re: Battlefield 1 PC: lost data and singleplayer game progress

Hey @MajorJeezaster,

you made a good guess there with the data potentially being overwritten.

In your "Documents\Battlefield 1\settings" folder is your local save data, including the settings and the story mode progress. If you delete the folder or overwrite the settings however, there's no way to restore them, unfortunately.

Your multiplayer progress, achievements and unlocks are stored on the server and cannot be altered by you.

So if you are playing on one device only, you could just turn off cloud saving for either all games or Battlefield 1, so you always go with the local settings.

Sorry, but you can just complete the campaign again, if you want to - and adjust the settings to your needs.

  • You know, if friggin took several hours to complete the campaign.  This is unacceptable.  All the settings being wiped is also unacceptable.  It took several hours to tweak it.  Which leads me to believe these local settings are sync'd.  Just roll back my account to the date I mentioned.  Any datacenter has backups at certain dates.  Just back it up back to the previous day.

  • Any help?  The game crashed AGAIN.  The game NEVER crashed, until the latest update, and this time, I tried to limit the write capability of the settings directory.  Now I get an error stating that the settings files (PROSAVE*) are corrupt, and the game will overwrite them.

My last backup was right after the crash.  Also, the singleplayer campaign.. got wiped.  AGAIN.

HELP.  You guys MUST retrieve my save file from May 6.  Any other result is utterly unacceptable, as now I'm just doing things over and over again, without enjoying the game.  I paid $120 for this?!

I have proof that I have already completed the campaign in its entirety.  Also, showing the error message when I load the game.

How can I play now, when every single crash, I have to redo my entire settings?   I can't play the game like this.  I've already initiated a repair on the game as well.  Please please retrieve my backup file from May 6.  Email me those PROSAVE files from May 6, so I can save them locally.

How am I supposed to enjoy the game when the latest update crashes when it never crashed before, and everytime it crashes, the settings and campaign progress gets wiped?!

    Hey @MajorJeezaster,

sorry to hear you're still experiencing crashes. Unfortunately there is no way to manually restore a backup from the cloud.

If you however would like to create a DxDiag file, that might help narrow down the cause of the crashes. Here's a post on how to create the file and provide the information.

  • Just give me a modified save-file that includes that I finished the entire singleplayer campaign then.
