Re: Can't purchase classic BF games anymore?

@danisoffyou can purchase a dvd from amazon I just saw battlefield 2142 for sale there, I don't know if it will be supported on any server. I would get a copy for myself if I could use it.

@wessexsoldier Yes, and I believe you can use the key to add the game to Origin (which wouldn't be required since the older BFs don't use origin DRM).

However, all BFs before Bad Company 2 are unplayable for the servers were taken down when GamesSpy was shutdown.

Even with the older BFs that are still playable (the ones that weren't released with Origin) you will still have connections problems and other issues. That's why they were pulled from the store.

There are some digital copies of older BFs available on Origin. Them being: BF 1942 (only main game  - no expansions) BF2 CC, BF 2142 (you wont be able to lg in into the main server bc it is shutdown so no SP and MP - there are workarounds for SP). These I can garantee as I own them on Origin. 1942 i redeemed it myself and the other 2 i needed help from an advisor. However, not many of them were willing to help me. I got no idea if BF Vietnam (2004) is available.

    Best,

I too have 2142 and BF2, although I have bought them before Origin pulled them from the store. I got 1942 when it was given for free during it's anniversary I believe.

If you have them you will keep them even if they are pulled from the store; I believe you can still redeem them if you have a key, but you cannot buy them directly on the store.

Perhaps you would need to get lucky and get a helpful advisor as you said.

I bought the Vietnam DLC for BC2 a while back for example and had to go through many hoops to have it added to my other account that predates Origin and the advisor managed to do it. However, years later, another advisor told me The Sims 2 was too old and not supported on Origin anymore and that there was nothing they could do.
