Re: Mantle error

I haven't played this game in 3 years, and today I update my pc, so I decided to play bf4. First launch was successful, and on the second this started to pop. I haven't tried to squeak the graphic performance, everything except for the mesh quality, that was set on ultra, was set to low, I was getting 100+ frames without any drops.

Also what do you mean by forcing the 0 setting on those entries? I remember that when I closed the game I had directx option chosen.

    Hi again @egorka66610 ,

You wrote in your original message that "I have tried changing it in the documents, but it was already on set to 0...", so from that I thought that you had indeed already been into manually editing some of the game configuration files?

The Mantle component is indeed directly linked to DirectX and it has often caused similar problems for many players in the past.  So dont know if you have a way still to get back in and disabling that?  The Mantle error like this often appears if forcing your graphical environment to a higher level or format than what the factual graphical card can support.  Aka a NVIDIA GPU doesn't support it, as Mantle is an AMD-specific render API...

So what I referred to is fixing it manually, by doing this:

    1. Go to Documents/Battlefield 4 folder.
    2. Open PROFSAVE_profile in Notepad
    3. Find 'GstRender.MantleEnabled' and change its value to 0.
    4. Save.
    5. Then reboot your PC and hopefully it would work for you now

Alternatively, you may need to reinstall the BF4 game, while ensuring to delete the Mantle folder specs, which remain even when standard deinstalling or repairing the game...  But try the above first, if not done so already...

@CyberDymeWeirdly, the folder has appeared again, I changed the value, hopefully, the game will launch

Yes that it how it works @egorka66610 ,

If deleted, then a new is created from scratch upon next program start.

Let us hear how it goes!

  • @CyberDyme I am a catastrophic idiot... I was changing the files in the documents folder, that was located on my previous windows profile, hence why even though I changed the gst.render value, the game wouldn't launch. I know have changed the value on my new windows accout and the game has launched, I'm so sorry for wasting your time.
