Edit .. reg .. i use CCleaner regularly-- good your going to need it when we get past windows part.

Ok first lets test your windows for errors ...

We need to rule out or fix issues in windows first before we try to fix this. So copy and past this next part to note pad and close browsers and programs like Origin to run this as open programs can give errors. Do it all as ADMIN and read this all fully before you start. When done post back.
    ===================================================================

    Test your windows for errors
This works in all windows O/S vista win 7,8 and 8.1 windows system file checker :] Copy and past this to note pad and put it on your desktop. As open programs can give you errors when you run this.

...... sfc /scannow ..... ever hear of it if not your going to love this .... it will inspect all the important windows files as well as the windows DLL files. If windows system file checker finds any issues with the windows files and windows DLL files it will replace them. This little tool as well as the event viewer saved me and fully helped me fix my BF4 issues as well as saved my .... many a format since I found it. This is the best toy they ever put in windows :]

For win7 go to start left click in search type cmd and right click cmd pick run as admin

For win 8.1 right click start bottom left of screen and pick command prompt admin

1 - Open administrator command prompt and close web pages and programs like origin.

2 - Type or copy and paste in sfc /scannow and hit enter, This takes 5 min to 15 min SSD vs HD

3 - This can go one of a few ways ..... no errors ... it fixed some errors ..... could not fix all errors...... does not finish checking and errors out ....... and the last one could not fix errors at all :/

4 -After its done reboot and do it again even if you had no errors the first time or had errors, could not fix ... run sfc /scannow again and when its done a second time reboot. You need to do this a and get no errors 2 x in a row ...

5- So if you ran it 2x and no errors your safe you can stop now for now lol, If you had errors first time but not the second then run sfc /scannow again and when its done reboot. You need to get could not find any errors 2 x to be safe. If it still finds errors try and run it a few more times until it finds no errors 2x AND ALWAYS REBOOT BETWEEN RUNNING sfc /scannow

6 - If you get a message indicating that it can not be repaired and you ran sfc /scannow more then 3x in a row on win vista or 7 mm you need a format or try repair win 7 :/ But after format or repair and all updates are done run sfc /scannow to make sure your windows is stable same deal 2x error free reboot between them.

If your O/S is Win8 or Win 8,1 then you can run this next command / line in administrator command prompt. Sadly this does not work for win vista or 7 :/ It will restore the health of your PC and you dont lose anything and it will also fix errors in the registry :]

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth ------- ONLY works for windows 8 and 8.1

7 - When its done reboot

Nice windows is good and not the issue less work :]

Ok part 2 this is from my post on how to fix BF4 when all else failed to fix it lol I had a war with BF4 a big war lol.

It is up to you how you want to do this But I would add origin into this as its origin not allowing you to fully D/L BF4.  What I am thinking it get you a clean install of Origin and BF4 even tho you removed BF4  parts of it be kicking as you know. So do all my steps fully to be sure its clean. Im going to google your error to see what others say on the off chance this does not work for you. So refresh this page I may edit.

My full post I had to do if you need a lol But I won the war so its all good

    http://answers.ea.com/t5/Battlefield-4/PC-This-is-how-to-fix-BF4-after-everything-else-failed-to-fully/m-p/2993466#U2993466

Now the BF4 part this is what I did after I did all the stuff I just listed  above. I wanted this game to work so bad I  would not work on the game part of it all until I had zero errors in event viewer lol. I am not a big fan of repair game as it never fixed it for me lol, after all this work I wanted a fully clean install of BF4

CC Cleaner do you know  it ? If you dont have it its free and safe  and you need it for this next part lol  It is a handy tool as well to have on your PC.   http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

1- Go to tools in cc cleaner and uninstall BF4 add origin lol

2-  Go to  my Documents on my C drive and deleted the BF4 folder sitting in there, I have my BF4 installed on H drive but BF4 install still puts the BF4 screen shots and settings on your C drive my documents. And when you un install it stays even in windows add and remove programs. So the point is you want a fully clean install of BF4 delete the BF4 in my documents. Now reboot.

     After Reboot

1- Open CC Cleaner again this time your going to registry dont get freaked out lol. All its going to do is remove fragments in the registry from uninstalled programs, It will give your the choice to back up do so if you wish. First time you run it you may have like 80 or more fixes but thats the normal. Empty recycle bin as well cant hurt all traces of BF4 must be gone lol.

    2- Reboot

    After Reboot

1- Run  sfc /scannow  just to be sure windows is still good to go. After it is done and if no errors or errors run it again after you reboot. You need 2x No Errors

    After Reboot

1- Open CC Cleaner and clean the registry

    2- Reboot

Make sure everything is good clean and stable before you install BF4. Reboot after you do each step ! And ya you may have to run them all a few times before its fully clan and stable :/

3-Now D/L BF4 lol but dont pause it or let it get cut off lol I has to be one fully clean install done at one time. Then Reboot

4- After BF4 in installed and you did a Reboot  then go to the punk buster site and download  Punk Buster then install PB and be sure to add BF4 game to it and check for updates.

    http://www.punkbuster.com/index.php?page=pbsetup.php

after all this is done also add settings ......

    Run the game as Administrator:
Go to the Origin games folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 4) and find Bf4.exe. Right click it and go to PROPERTIES, then COMPATIBILITY and check the box next to RUN THIS PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR.
Do the same with BF4_x86.exe as well.

    Run Origin as Administrator:
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin and right click on Origin.exe and go to properties. Then go to compatibility tab and check the box next to RUN AS ADMIN.

    Disable Origin in game:
In Origin - Application settings - Origin in Game - disable Origin in game

Make Sure BF4 is set to 64bit if your windows is 64bit
1- open origin and go to My Games
2-Right click BF4 and go to Game Properties
3-Under when launching this game set it to x64 and check off disable origin in game.
4- Hit apply and test you BF4

Origin Cloud Storage turn it off
    Origin, settings, General

    5- Test yourBF4 game :]

    Hi,

I had no installation of BF4 but did have some part download hanging around, Deleted,

Uninstalled Origin Again, Deleted files left over,

Edited Registry, Removed Origin, EA, and batlefield nodes, (don't have anything else from them installed so removed),

Ran CCleaner, removed some temporary Internet files,

Removed some missing DLL Links, Scanned again Nothing, Rebooted, Scanned Nothing,

    Ran SFC Scannow, Nothing,

    Downloaded and re-installed Origin,

Logged in and attempted to install BF4 started to DL started at about 800 kbps the counted down quite fast, got to about 180 hovered there for a tick then gave me an error, download server not responding, started DL again and got the same error -4:503 it had downloaded about 5 MB of the game. dumped me back in my games,

Edit 2.. Did you do this

     Run Origin as Administrator:
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin and right click on Origin.exe and go to properties. Then go to compatibility tab and check the box next to RUN AS ADMIN.

    From Sm4rtchicken his fix

    THE FIX:
I DID RESTART MY ROUTER BUT IT DIDN'T WORK!
SO I JUST USED MY BROTHER'S INTERNET CONNECTION WHICH IS FROM DIFFERENT SERVICE PROVIDER, AND THEN I DID GAME REPAIR, IT JUST WORKED LIKE DRINKING CUP OF WATER!

ORIGIN DOESN'T ACCEPT MY INTERNET CONNECTION? SOUNDS WEIRD!

IF YOU HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM, I DON'T KNOW IF RESTARTING YOUR ROUTER WOULD WORK OR NOT, OR USING ANOTHER INTERNET CONNECTION FROM THE SAME ISP, IF EAITHER NOT WORKING THEN TRY DIFFERENT INTERNET CONNECTION FROM DIFFERENT ISP.

    GOOD LUCK!

     =============================

    From  Lindesberg his fix

what i did to fix this was:

    1. create a folder under the same HDD as you have the installation of bf. i called it Skit (for me C:\skit)
    2. log out and close origin...
    3. go to your origin games. Mine at C😛rogram(x86)\ and CUT the Battlefiled 4 folder out from it.
    4. paste the bf4 folder in the skit folder.
    5. restart the pc after its done.
6.start origin up and now the battlefield 4 is gone and som of you its starting to download again but just abort that.
    7. log out and close origin.
If you have a new battlefield 4 folder in the Origin games folder at this point just delit it.
    8. cut the battlefield 4 folder from the C:\skit and paste it back to origin games.
    9. restart Pc and open origin as normal now the game is not fixed but you can update it and its not stuck anymore.

    Happy trying.
this is something i have done by reading it in a outer thread here on the forum...
    cant find the link.

    ==================================================================

    From fotosight his fix

    ok i found the Problem.

    1) move the Folder origin games/battlefield 4 to a new Folder!!!!!!
    2) deinstall origin
    3) reinstall origin
    4) copy the battlefield back to the Origin Games
    5) start Origin

And now origin first will start repairing the main package BF4 and surprice surprice it will automaticly finish the DL from the Update. SO wait Update is realy done with Download and Installation, and here we ge. Working....

    Okay,

I'll try and get a working copy from my mate and copy it back in,

Hell at this stage almost anything is worth a try, i have already tried using another internet connection the place i work has another isp and they are on fibre but still no go,

will try again when i have a new copy

Could do... if you want try this as all the fixes different versions of it but all do almost same thing... fixed it by closing origin, cutting and pasting the bf4 folder outside of origins library. Then I restarted origin so that it could see bf4 was gone, then I closed origin again and moved bf4 back to the original folder. After that it worked just fine.

You should already have a bf4 folder as it started the d/l

If none of this works do this lol......Keep me posted I want to know the fix ...

I would contact an Electronic Arts Battlefield 4 technical support agent here:
    http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/?product=battlefield-4
Pick the device you need help with.
Select the topic your problem falls under, and provide some more information on the issue.
Select 'Live Chat' or 'Call Me' depending on what is available, and what you would prefer.

    Yeah,

    Right, Here's what i did,

Kicked my mate off his computer and copied his Battlefield 4 (Post Update), went home, re-started the download, then stopped before it crashed,

copied my mates BF4 onto my computer, restarted origin, restarted the DL, took a few moments.. gave me an error of the DL server not responding,

re-started, started DL did this about 5 times eventually got to the end,

started my browser, (said i needed update BF4) did the repair option a couple of times (it kept up with the DL error),

eventually got to the end crashed a couple of times downloading the 28mb repair files (after dropping off a few more times), then all good,

I have Battlefield 4 again...... not good enough really even though i'm playing i hate that i had to go through so much,

Tried to start a DL of another game but it was a no go, can't download there either, though i probably could if i was prepared to sit through all the errors but i really can't be bothered,

I'm going to follow the link that you gave me and see what i can get,

this is the first big problem i've had with origin so i'm prepared to give a bit of slack,

I'll start a ticket with EA see if they have anything useful to put forward then post back here

That is a funny error I hunted for hrs last night on this one . With EA ask for a call back if you can as it has always been fast when I used it. Good Luck :] If I can find a better fix I will post back as well .. I keep thinking its a DLL doing this with Origin something is out to lunch.

    Hi Zorlacc,

Sorry about the late reply, no not the hard drives, did a check, both SMART and surface scans, no bad sectors or corrupt files that i can tell,

these last couple of days i have tried to get a hold of someone at EA but i always seem to miss the window, will keep trying though

  • Well just got off from a long conversation with EA,

Apparently it could be my ports or my ISP so the next step will be the telco and see if they are responsible for this dastardly deed.

EDIT: Sorry mate didn't see your post in my frustrated state 🙂 anyway neither of them needed an update same or newer already installed,

did see how to delete Origin cached stuff, helped speed up the downloads a little but same result.

I understand the  frustrated state as this has gone on way to long for you :womanfrustrated: I agree with them at this point has to be something with ports or your ISP as we tried every fix under the sun and then some. Off chance turn off firewall and try if not done already and I am a thinking you did this already. :womanfrustrated:

Did you not already try to d/l your game at a mates house and it still failed?

    Hi Zorlacc,

in the end the conversation with ea was a bit of a bust, the guy was patient and the download went for quite a while, I've spoken with my ISP and finally got a hold of a techie who actually cared enough to look. they don't block or manage but if there is high use at any time then everyone suffers a little bit.

ea were very quick to close the ticket even before i had finished speaking with my ISP, could get them to open it .... just can't be bothered.

I'm not getting that specific error anymore it will just drop out,

I'm not going to buy anymore games through Origin anymore i don't have two weeks to download a simple 1GB update, i've made a deal with my mate, he will download updates for bf4 and i'll just copy them over the top of what i've got, thank god that works,

so thanks for your help it was much appreciated, (the real test would be to bring my mates computer here and see if he can down load.... SLAP... stop it.)

See this issue has driven me crazy!

I fully understand it would make me nuts as well,  someone in this house just had almost the same issue but no error the d/l would just stop :/ What he did was turn off pc then turned it back on  and turned off all other programs then started the d/l and walked away from the PC and somehow this gave him the d/l. If not tried already try this or maybe try it again this way anything is worth a shot.
