Re: Server Timeout Error - Might be CPU temp overload related

60 degrees Celcius is not considered an overheating temperature. Your CPU can run at this temperature without issue 24/7.

It was actually hitting 60+ which means it could probably be hitting upwards of high 60s or low 70s. So if it's overheating briefly in game and freezing up the PC, I would think that could be causing the server timeout issue. Considering all other EA's suggestions for resolving the server timeout issue hasn't worked, I can't rule this out as a possibly. I did not have the server timeout issue before the Fall patch and I'm able to go back and play BF3 fine with no server timeout issues. So logically I can't rule out overheating being a potential issue in my case.

I have tried the following fixes:

    • Updated Punkbuster
    • Updated BattleLog plugins
    • Tried multiple browsers (Chrome, IE, Firefox)
    • Restarted PC after each change/update
    • Updated to latest Catalyst drivers (v14.9)
    • Reverted back to old Cataylst drivers (v14.4)
    • Repaired BF4 install
    • Run in DX mode
    • Run in Mantle mode
    • Reinstalled Windows 8.1 Pro and re-downloaded Origin games

Did not have the timeout issue before Fall patch. Have I missed any resolution items here?

    OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
    Video: AMD Radeon HD 7950
    Video Driver: Catalyst v14.301.1001
    CPU: AMD FX 6300

    HDD: SSD
    Plugin: battlelog-web-plugins_2.5.1_149
    Browser: Chrome 37.0.2062.124

    @Phugazi

If you were having overtemp situations then you would be seeing bluescreens and/or spontaneous reboots.

Server timeouts are caused by connectivity issues. Try the following:

    • Power cycle your router
    • Connect to your router directly with a cable rather than wirelessly
    • If possible, test with a different router
    • If available, update your router firmware.
    • It may be worthwhile testing connectivity while using Google DNS: https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

    I had already tried:

    • Power cycle your router
    • Connect to your router directly with a cable rather than wirelessly

Still had the error. If my router was the issue wouldn't I be having the same issues playing BF3 or surfing online? Also, I can swtich to my gaming laptop and play BF4 fine without the server timeout issues wirelessly and on the same router.
