Re: Transfer game to another Origin Account.

Hi,

Contacting support for this matter would not be useful, as we do not allow transferring a game from an account to another.

Thank you for your understanding.

    Hi,

My boyfriend and I share a desktop PC with The Sims 3 (installed from a disc) on it.  In the recent past, I downloaded two expansion packs:  Master Suite and Fast Lane.  This was under my Origin account.  A few days ago, my boyfriend found a promotion for two expansion packs (High end loft and Night Life) and downloaded them to the same computer under HIS Origin account, not realizing that the other two expansion packs were under mine.  When he installed the two new expansion packs, a message popup stated that the original Sims 3 base game was not compatible as it was not downloaded through Origin.  We fixed this problem by registering the disc on his account.  However, the two expansion packs (as well as many individual items purchased with SimPoints) that I purchased BEFORE cannot be moved to his account.  Will all of the expansion packs still work together when I play?  If not, how can we transfer these purchases to a single account so that we can play with all of our expansions simultaneously?

This is not an issue of attempting to get two-for-one.  We would be happy to have these games on a single account, as long as they are on the same account.  How can this be done?

Why do you assume that people automatically understand? What you are doing is preventing us from retaining any value from a purchase in hopes of making people buy games many times rather than being able to share. i.e. I get over a game and buy the newest edition, would rather not waste the old one that I never play. I could give it to someone who WOULD play it, enjoy it, and possibly be convinced of buying the newest version as well. Now you could have a new customer based on a game that was going to be totally wasted. Instead, smart people can see your system as a capitalistic attempt to maximize profits at the expensive of customer service and appreitation. You have every right to make that choice as a business, and you will also try to market as always being PERFECT for customers, but in this specific case, your actions suggest capital over the interest of your consumer. I would like to understand why you think this is in the best interest of your company in the long run...

you are so right, they dont make it clear at all that you cannot use pre-owned games anymore either, ive spent a whole day trying to sort out an issue that shoudlnt have been there in the first place. 2 years ago you didnt even need origin to dowloadf a game that comes already on a disc, to its just scamming good people out of money they dont really have in the first place. Ridiculous

I could not agree with you more. EA has not only found a way to stop piracy, which is good, but have found a way to maximise profits and sales at the expense of loyal customers. Our games are purchased by us, and we should be able to use them as we wish, not as Origin wishes.

Can you elaborate? The answer is in the thread, it is not possible to move a game between Origin accounts, end of story.

Exactly. I have always been a loyal supporter of EA right back when I played my first EA game when it was released - 007 Nightfire. And that was a long time ago. Back when you BOUGHT a game - you got to keep the actual game, and not just the limited privilege to play it.

Actually, to just say "NO" is not the definition of support. For support, read CUSTOMER SERVICE. For that, you need someone in the company to sit up and take ownership of the problem - not throw it out there to a bunch of other account holders, who might, through experience, know the answer. It doesn't tackle a specific issue.

EA, like many big companies these days display no loyalty to the people who keep them in business. This is very short-sighted. Saying it's Industry Standard doesn't excuse anything either. I work for a non-gaming software company and I know for a fact that if I took took money from my customers, dropped the software on them and run, they wouldn't be renewing the licence next year and we would soon be out of business.

In my specific case, my daughter purchased the new Star Wars game for me for Christmas and was forced to login to her EA account to do so. This automatically registered it in her name when it was actually a gift. She (being naive and only a teenager) thought that she could gift it to me once purchased. It's never been downloaded/installed/run.I know that EA can easily see if this is the case. Therefore, I can see no reason why she shouldn't be able to gift it to me. Perhaps someone from EA could make contact rather than just saying "go F yourself!".

I'm closing this thread to stop it being necroed.

If you have any issues with Battlefield 3 please make a new topic about the issues you are having and what kind of steps you have tried to solve it.
