Re: Want to delete BF4 progress

You don't talk to anybody because this is not possible.  Your only options are:

1.  If on PC you have to start a new account and purchase the game again

2.  If on console you need to create a new Gamertag / PSN ID, and then start over on that account.

  • Thanks for the quick response. Given that this is an EA game I guess I'm not too surprised that this option is missing.

I do have one question though—if this isn't possible at all (not even by talking to technical support) then why is "reset progress" a selectable category under "technical support" on the EA help page?

Being EA has nothing to do with this. Up until recently only COD had this option when it came to multiplayer FPS, now Hardline (another EA title) offers it too but BF4 never had this option.

  • Unfortunately, this does not answer my question. Why was "reset my progress" offered as an option on EA's help page?

And, on the contrary, I have reset my BF4 unlocks on PS3 multiple times.

I only recently purchased an Xbox, and was disappointed to find that unlocks are tied to my XB1 account, meaning I cannot play through BF4 unlocks again without resetting all of my friends and purchasing Xbox Gold again.

While it's possible that other shooters also don't let you reset unlocks, that doesn't excuse this omission on EA's part. It's possible on BF4 for PS3, and it's possible on COD for XB1, so clearly it's not a technical problem, but a willful omission.

Funny because a multiplayer soldier progress reset option is not available on PS3 for BF3 or BF4; it is only available for Hardline as I mentioned above. The only way any multiplayer unlock progress can be reset on any platform for BF3 and BF4 to include PS3 is via a punitive stat reset from DICE for griefing, cheating, hacking, or stat padding, or by creating a new PSN or Xbox Live ID and starting over from scratch. I know this because I play BF4 on all 5 platforms (PC, Xbox One, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360). On BF3\BF4 the only resets possible are for premium members and it only resets your stats at the top of your Battlelog profile - not progression unlocks, not assignment progress and not rank, and your historical global soldier stats are still viewable in the stats detail page of your battlelog profile (if you linked your console ID and your Origin account). If you are a Hardline player Visceral (not DICE who made BF3\BF4) included the COD Prestige like function of resetting your multiplayer soldier progress. That feature was not retroactively applied to any Battlefield titles.

If the "reset your progress" is on the EA Help page it is undoubtedly for another game since ever since the 2012 EA Answer HQ debut the EA Game Advisors have repeatedly insisted that they cannot reset soldier progress for Battlefield soldiers. The decision to not include a soldier progress reset was not an omission, it was a conscious design choice by DICE, with which you obviously disagree.

You can reset your in game campaign progress on BF3 and BF4 as well as in Hardline.

  • Go delete your BF4 game data. Boom, unlocks/stats gone! Our foster kid did it accidentally a few months ago, and I've done it on purpose several times. The issue is that EA has decided to store your data for you and gives you no control over it.

^ Sorry if that was unclear. Deleting the files locally works on PS3. The Xbox One version of the same game (BF4) apperently does not give you control over your own saves.
  • I just checked and you're right that the PS3 version won't let me delete my unlocks. I must have hopped around between different accounts, which is, of course, only possible on PS3.

Still, this does not explain why Battlefield players are not given control over their unlocks, or why the option is on the help page to begin with. In the latter case it definitely seems unintentional.

Either way I'm disappointed with the lack of support. Not letting my reset my stats is understandable—not letting me reset my unlocks is not. It is to no one's benefit.

Then be sure to actively participate in the Battlefield 1 beta feedback forums when they inevitably come out to voice your desire to continue Hardline's COD-Prestige like multiplayer reset function.  However calling the absence of a feature that you want, which was never included in any Battlefield games during the previous 12 years before Hardline (the game after the one you are playing) a "lack of support" is bizarre. The development of additional features is how a game grows and changes, but the absence of future features in past games does not denote a lack of support but simply an earlier iteration of the game.

  • Regardless of whether it was supported in the UI, the fact remains that it was possible and now it isn't, and the help page seems to imply that it is still possible.

You really don't understand this do you?  It was NEVER possible until the abomination called Hardline.  And you can only pull a CoD and "prestige" once you are max rank.  It has never been available in ANY Battlefield game, because Hardline is not a true Battlefield game.  And just like @ragnarok013 stated, this game was AFTER BF4, so they are not going to retroactively add that to BF4.  And maybe you should read the quote from one of Ragnarok's previous posts in this thread below to answer your last question about why it is on the help page:

  • Hey thanks, I didn't see that response to the question about the help page. I'm not sure what your issue is with Hardline—I think it's actually pretty fun. But I do like BF4 better, and I'd like to unlock my guns again like I did on the PS3 version. I believe you that it's not possible though.

Should it be? Well, yes, and I'm still disappointed that it's not. That being said, I think it's probably time for me to move on to something else anyway.

Do you know how I can reset my campaign data on PC?
