Re: Where are the Dice official servers for PC?

Servers using the "Official" server preset works just like any server Dice/EA could setup. EA should have quite a lot of servers up, including the local EA locations like EA Ireland, etc.

What? A rented server thats presets are "Official" is not tha same as an Offical server provided by Dice/EA. I do not want to play on a server someone has rented and can kick/ban, do with as they please. Did you not read what I said?

Also these rented servers are always full of clans, which is not fair to players that join that are not communicating/playing together. This is "Pub Stacking", and basically farming noobs.

So yeah where are the OFFICIAL servers? Not the ones that someone has rented and kept the presets as "official" but is still pub stacking and badmin'ing...

They cannot ban/kick if the server preset is set to Official.

That still is not an answer as to why there are no Dice/EA hosted servers for many game modes...Classic mode NO SERVERS Infantry only NO SERVERS...Why are you just trying to argue semantics and not answer the question?

I should not have to play on a server that someone is paying to rent if I do not want to. There should be servers in my region hosted by the company that sold me the game. That are not pubstacked by clans and high level players just waiting to pounce on noobs.

There also should be a matchmaking system filling the hosted servers with players of like skill level. Like every other online FPS in history has had!

I really thought getting BF4 on PC would make the gaming experience better. It has not... the server support on PC is worse than it is on consoles.

How did Dice/EA screw Battlefield up so bad? They have fragmented the community with premium, lost all respect from their customers with how poorly BF4 has performed since release and how BAD the support has been since said HORRIBLE launch.

Oh and P.S.- as of right now in my region there is only one rented server for RUSH that has a normal "official" preset and it is actually hosted by Canadians so not really my region. So yeah Like I said where are all the OFFICIAL DICE/EA HOSTED SERVERS?!!!

I just answered what could be answered on a community based, mostly technical, support forum. It's not called "EA/DICE official responses to questions by the community" but that would be very awesome if it existed.

As for the rest of your question, my best guess is that DICE/EA was happy with the amount of official servers out there and saw no reason to have their own. If you would like to ask DICE/EA about it I would suggest BF4 Twitter, Facebook, Google+ pages or Battlelog. Alternatively there might be someone in here who has read an official statement about this somewhere and can tell us - time will tell 🙂

I love how all of EA's sites are set up to not have anyone around to answer the questions that ACTUALLY need answering. Like this site for example what is the point of this site supposed to be? To have the community do Dice/EA's job for them? Because they do not want to pay people to actually give folks definitive technical advice on the problems they are experiencing.

Everyone one of the sites you mentioned has mods that are language babysitters and nothing else. I have been on BF forums since BF2, before Battlelog even existed. You used to be able to get on and ask devs questions DIRECTLY. They were open with the community and appreciated feedback. Now Dice/EA has fostered this "us against them" attitude and cannot even be bothered to release full patch notes!

What happened? When a game franchise makes TONS of money from it's customers shouldn't the support and quality of the game get BETTER?

Computer games are complex. Especially on PC all the different system configurations there's out there can give specific errors for each configuration, you can't expect game company employees to know it all, sure general problem, but obscure problems and technical issues with specific hardware etc. no. Also, are you stuck in game where you can't find out a pussle etc. can you expect the game company to help, no. That's what Answer HQ is for, it's a place where the community helps the community with what it can actually help with and tries to reward the community for doing it.

For general support there's still EA support (help.ea.com).

I agree that DICE/EA is generally bad at centralising bugcollection + acknowledging, sorting and asking for help with errors, but that doesn't diminish the value of Answer HQ. Just because other areas of EA/DICE's community management could be way better doesn't mean you should treat this place badly.

In other words, I've pointed you in the right direction, you might not like the quality of the direction but that doesn't make it less right.

I also miss the days you could communicate with developers, sadly, developers are expensive and since games like these now have millions of users you can't have them answering questions from the community all the time. I agree that the way they do it now should be better, but now we are circling back around 🙂

So basically I am right...just did some research, for many game modes and regions there are no OFFICIAL HOSTED SERVERS provided by Dice/EA...

Wow...?! That is just inexcusable. Dice/EA sells you a game, that as a selling point has optional modes to play the game, yet they do not provide servers to play those modes to the player base.

You have to rent your own and set that mode or play on someone else's rented server that has that mode preset /DISGUSTED

So, EA has made a game with alot of gamemodes and combinations. Lets look at it :manhappy:

    • 5 expansion rotations + original maps = 6
    • 14 game modes
    • small / large map = 2
    • Normal, infantry, hardcore and classic preset.

All of these in 7 continents on 5 platforms

    Lets calculate the combination possibilities:

    6*14*2*4*7*5

    =

    23.520 servers

So, what you are saying is that EA/DICE should use electricity, buy hardware and manpower to maintain 23.000+ servers where only the few popular combinations will be used?

We could also turn it around and say, if EA/DICE are forced to create a server for each combination they would have to severely limit the posibilities of those who buy and create servers = say hello to a severely limited game.

You are acting like this has never been done properly before by another gaming company in any other online FPS. Or by Dice/EA themselves in the past! You act like EA has not made a killing off this franchise and are strapped to provide servers for their player base...DERP

If they set up at least one or two servers for each of the modes they have designed for the game and then have a matchmaking system set up to fill those hosted servers for that mode things would be ALL GOOD.

I do not see why folks like you try your very hardest to blindly defend every mistake and greedy decision that Dice/EA makes? Are you on EA's pay roll? If not why are you so adamant about defending a company that is notorious for screwing over their customers?

All of this conjecture between us still does not negate the fact that for even the more popular game modes(RUSH) there are no DICE/EA official hosted servers in my region, so yeah...not sure why you still keep arguing with me.

You're right, this is * stupid.  There is no reason I should have to play on a rented server where some douche makes his own rules like "no cursing or intolerant language in this RATED M GAME".  AND THEY ARE ALL LIKE THAT BTW

I don't really know how this really works as I am new to gaming, but I just been kicked from an "OFFICIAL" server. So please explain how and why?

In the server browser filters there are settings for "official" and settings for "ranked" and "unranked". If the server is set to official the admin cannot kick or ban or make rules (since even if he did he can't kick or ban). The only thing an admin can do is change map\game mode stuff like that. So if you want the normal battlefield experience without the admins enforcing their will only select "official" mode servers.

This entire thread is ridiculous and annoying, and here is why.

OP expects DICE (Developers) to answer on Answers HQ (A forum for the players to help players), if OP was so worried about talking with DICE he would know that to get official support on Battlefield 4 you use Battlelog Forums or EA Support, and yes developers answer and supply support on Battlelog Forums, not Answers HQ.

OP expects EA/Dice to supply thousands of servers, saying other companies have done it in the past. This is ridiculous, there's no company in the world that supplies thousands of servers for their games, they all use P2P systems and dedicated servers, with a few dozens they host themselves like EA/Dice did with Battlefield 4.

To make matters worse, EA/Dice has done a great job on adding Official Servers tag to any servers that use vanilla settings. Meaning on this Official servers the Admins can only change the maps/gamemodes, and EA/Dice along with Punkbuster are the only ones with rights to kick/ban players.

No offense, but I think OP is everything besides mature, coming with false accusations and flame towards EA/Dice with no knowledge at all about what he is talking about. Plus he refuses to listen and keeps flaming, so yes, this thread is ridiculous.

Okay I literally read through this entire thread because I am actually having THE SAME ISSUSE!what he is trying to say is that most games have official servers where you just click the game mode and it brings you to the game and everyone plays happily without someone other than dice being in control. We don't want to play on some server where someone gets to choose how long you play, what maps you play, what guns you have access to, etc... You idiots are responding to him in the worst way possible and are not giving him an acceptable answer in the slightest! You have no idea what he or yourself are talking about and should not even be able to post responses to "help" people out. You respond and make it look like he's being stupid when he actually has a point. You should try to be more helpful when people ask questions. If you don't know the answer THEN DON'T SAY ANYTHING. nobody said you HAD to respond. He is asking people who actually know what they are talking about. SO I know it's a new year but I have the same question. HOW DO U JOIN OFFICIAL SERVERS NOT RUN BY SOMEBODY OTHER THAN DICE. I was to acess the guns I have earned through playing the game. I want to play maps in the order DICE has chosen. I want to have the tick rate be what DICE has chosen. I want the kill feed and chat feed to be setup THE WAY DICE HAS CHOSEN. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? Don't respond if you don't know! Thank you 🙂

@NosamRetsof you just Necro'd a year old thread, the Battlefield landscape has greatly changed with BF1 being introduced and no third party servers in BF1, however the same restrictions that were present in our year old posts are still present on PC in BF4 - nothing has changed.  If you want a classic BF experience choose only "official" preset in your server browser or use quick match during the times that quick match isn't broken. There is no other option on PC since DICE doesn't host BF4 servers on that platform.

I'm not sure to whom your rant calling people idiots and saying that the people don't know what they are talking about is directed, however as a sever admin on multiple platforms that include both PC and console I know exactly what I am talking about so please reread all of my responses for the correct answer. Since this thread has been both necro'd and has gone down the road of ad hominem arguments I am closing it.
