SBMM in BF6? Dear Dice, we dont want this, we want SERVER BROWSER.
Dear Dice, it is with great affection that I come to write this here, even though I know that it may not be taken into consideration, but I would like to ask a question, do you know why the latest Battlefield has fewer simultaneous players than a game that was released in 2013? A game that was released 12 years ago, has more players and has a strong community than a game that was released recently? Obviously I am referring to the gigantic failure that was Battlefield 2042 for the franchise, compared to BF4. From seeing some rumors and files that were leaked from BFLabs, it seems that the new Battlefield "BF6" will have an SBMM system and not a server-browser, this will be the biggest stupidity ever made. You have the chance to make a new Battlefield to attract the BF4/BF1/BFV communities to a single game, to make a golden game that will last for many years, just like it was with BF4 and has been with other titles. Implementing an SBMM system in the new game of the franchise will be an extreme failure.
Here are some points why a server-browser is essential.
1st - Battlefield players are already used to this, a system that works and has never been problematic, a good system, why change?
2nd - Servers create bonds between the community, it is easy to make friends, sometimes you just want to have fun and play with the same people as always on a server, with your clan or not.
3rd - Servers can be customized, and this is essential to please the different Battlefield players. Don't like vehicles? Great, play on a map of a server that only has weapons. Do you like vehicles? So there are bigger servers for that... Do you like long matches? Then there will be servers with a high number of ticks.
4th - Less organic matches. In war, and Battlefield is an arcade game that simulates war, you will find all kinds of casualties, from armed veterans, professionals in vehicles, even stupid people dying on the front. In an SBMM this does not exist. Even worse, if there are bots like in the last Battlefield, it will be a gigantic mess, matches with less real people and more bots, farming kills all the time.
5th - Performance vs Fun -> SBMM prioritizes skill and not latency, which can put you on servers with higher ping, just to balance the match.
6th - Impact on More Experienced Players
Those who play well constantly will only face tryhard after tryhard. This generates stressful matches, with no moments of relaxation or simply having fun with vehicles, crazy strategies, or cinematic kills. Sometimes you just want to join a server and relax, knowing that there will be BAD players on that server, and that's a fact! Everyone likes to kill bad players, playing all the time on servers that are all excellent, at a try-hard level, is stressful and exhausting.
7th - It displeases the franchise's loyal base. Battlefield has always been known for its large-scale matches, with freedom, chaos, and unpredictable moments.
SBMM imposes a more closed and controlled logic, more similar to games like Call of Duty, which does not fit with Battlefield's proposal.
8th - It increases the waiting time. In order to find a "balanced match", SBMM can make you wait longer in the queue. This is even worse during peak hours or in regions with fewer players, generating long waits or matches with high ping.
I'm sure there are several points, but I can't think of them all right now, well well well... Could you do a poll? How about Dice? Ask the community, ask on YouTube, on Reddit, on a Twitch live, see the community's reaction, why want to impose something with such certainty without even knowing if the community will like it?
