Suggestion to EA/DICE regarding feedback

In regards to feedback, EA/DICE should not say they are not looking for feedback during some sort of test then ask for it after anyway. Problem with this many people who is interested giving good feedback after might not be able too give good feedback.

Me personally have the memory of a mouse so would need to note good and bad to be able to provide good feedback afterwards. I don't think it's uncommon to do when you are testing something, take example restaurant reviewers they got their notes. If they said they aren't looking for feedback they can't really expect overall good feedback and of course this can affect the end product in a bad way, maybe this happened with 2042.

Another problem is also saying something is a really early build on top of not needing feedback. Many people probably wont approach the test from game testing side. Nobody would give feedback on example the lack of scoreboard for an fps, this is something everyone would expect an fps game to have. Nobody would say anything cause early build and no feedback needed as they would expect the most basic feature any fps game to have. Surprised this even got past game testing of early builds, but then again probably cause what i mentioned.

As for the next game itself, i have not so high hope but i am really confident EA/DICE is putting in their most effort possible considering backlash form 2042. We'll have to see if their effort is any good. Anyway keep up the work EA/DICE and don't remove or change things that work well overall from previous games, looking forward to next game.

Scoreboard might be a small thing but i would consider it minimum expected from a fps game, small things many times is the best ones. I would say most people would ignore it and think they just slapped on a temp scoreboard for their (test, early build, no feedback needed), that's what i would think at the time specially with such statements. I am also thinking how could this even had gone through the planing process of the game, same with many other aspects of the game really. Lack of Scoreboard itself is not really game breaking of course, but adds for sure to the overall.

  •        I think you are on to something here. Personally I remember not complaining about the graphics and the lack of factions in my feedback for the early builds. I was entirely sure the graphics will turn out amazing in the final game and that cosmetics for the specialists will get faction locked. Oh was I so wrong.

Also I have an issue with the communication channels, in the direction from users to developers. Does anyone in the development team of the next Battlefield even read those forums here? A single employee at least? Because this board, although somewhat dead, is definitely one of the very few places where the players, out of sheer passion for the games in the franchise, can share their visions of Battlefield, the posts uninhibited by being either an answer to a very specific question or an attempt to farm internet points like it is the case on Reddit. Battlefield subreddits over there, although popular, are an unstable mess through which fad after fad cascade repeatedly. First, the game is praised but the concept of specialists gets made fun of. Then making fun of specialists gets made fun of. Then the game launches and it sucks. Then the game gets made fun of and the subreddit dies out as does the game. After three years it is finally established that specialists are bad. There almost never is a clearly resounding insight. This does not only apply to Reddit, but those mob-like behaviours are especially prevalent there, at least to me.

Thus if the developers take inspiration from sorted-by-top BF-related subreddits then I wish them good luck, as they will need it to make a decent game. The game is not supposed to be a democratic people-pleaser, it's supposed to be good, the best, the finest. It's not an elevator jingle, it's meant to be a playable piece of art. You can't merely sort and weigh opinions by popularity to achieve that or you will end up without a scoreboard or factions in your game, or at least I imagine these are the cause and effect. If I hate the game I likely won't even care to point out that the game is broken down to its very core, I'll just stop playing and not buy the next one. Giving up like this creates a huge bias in the feedback and its average properties. And so acknowledging all, not just the average, of the views and opinions of the players community is imperative to making a successful game, but there must be someone with reason and a vision leading the development team who has a deep understanding of what the game should be, to whom properly interpreted feedback should be relayed. A leader who knows with no doubt that we need scoreboard and factions in the game.

Honestly though, graphics wasn't too bad but i did expect a bit more. As for specialists i do think it was a really great new thing, specially on paper but in practice it would decrease team play in many cases so most would want the return to classes and that would work better overall.

Yes EA/DICE should be careful where they take feedback from of course, reddit might not be the best but can also be good place as with many other places. I remember people complaining about Boris santa claus skin, i can't for the life of me understand why people would complain, just don't use it. This could be like you say mob-like behavior. As for the skin itself i would find it pretty hilarious and would use it for sure, also show some fun side of EA/DICE which they done many times over the years. I can understand EA/DICE was in a vulnerable position with 2042 at some point, still complaints about the skin is far from valid and makes no sense to not even put in the game if they wanted i'd say. I think this also shows EA/DICE are willing to listen to feedback, which has been their core values for years. But i do think they should take time to consider the feedback as well and think about it, can't just say yes to all feedback of course.

They did fix many things with 2042, scoreboard as an example at a later time. Could be many reasons to why they choose to do focused stats over scoreboard, not really a good choice as with other things in that game. If i don't remember wrong i am sure i made a post before about few thing's i disliked about the game, mentioned some good things in the comments also if i remember correctly. Some of the problems are still present in the game to this day.

I want to take back my comment about the boris skin after getting a different perspective on this.

Had a discussion with someone that said they don't really want to see entire map flodded with example santa skins or any strange skins, as they would prefer generic military skins for other players. I do think this was valid and makes sense too me, partially why i want too change my opinion on it. Even though i personally probably wouldn't mind it short time during holidays on top of that i would find it a bit funny. But a show other player/seasonal or generic skin option would probably be more ideal if skins like these will be added.

I guess this also shows that like i said before EA/DICE should take time to consider the feedback they get and think about it well, and they did that with the skin for 2042. I haven't seen what actual feedback they got from this, but seems they got some different perspective from it at least.
