I was playing BF3 yesterday when I went to log in this morning it says joining server but the game does not start I have done the properties and compatability but makes no difference. please advise me of what my issue might be and a resolution to fix this problem. thank you
Since you don't mention what you have tried, here's some universal solutions to most problems.
-Try restarting your computer and router
-Try repairing your game in Origin
-Try uninstalling and installing Origin again
-Try doing a UOtrace to EA's servers to check for problems - https://help.ea.com/article/how-to-uo-trace
-Update you drivers to your graphics card and other components.
-Check if Punkbuster is running correctly and update it manually (https://help.ea.com/article/battlefield-3-punkbuster-error)
Remember to accept the solution if it's correct and press the XP button if somebody helped.

This usually means that something is blocking BF3 from starting.
-Turn off your anti-virus and Windows Firewall,
-Disable UpNp and SSDP support in Services section (type Services in search), also do the same thing on your router,
-Make sure your NAT type is open on your router,
-Try using a different Internet Browser or clean all the history from the old one,
-Also scan for Viruses and other unwanted processes (this is the best program for the job http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html )
-Disable Cloud Storage in Origin,
-Run bf3.exe, Origin.exe as administrator.
-If you use Xfire uninstall it.
