I guess it´s because of the red "square" (or diamond?) above your enemy´s head, but it´s a good question 🤔
As the wiki mentions: "The spotting mechanic is so-called "3D" spotting, which means that a small red diamond appears over the body of an enemy on the player's HUD, as well as a minimap marker, for a short time. Sometimes, merely targeting an enemy will bring up the red diamond."
- Yeah I'd seen the wiki article on it but it doesn't really explain why it's 3D. You could remove the word 3D from it and it would make just as much sense.

It´s a 3D game, the enemy isn´t just spotted on the minimap but also in your field of view, so it´s 3D then 🙂
- Navigando8 years agoSeasoned AceHi @el-nombre,
- spot is to evidence the enemy on the minimap
- spot 3d is to evidence the enemy with the red square above the head

[I do not work for EA!] - So essentially it's nothing to do with 3 dimensions.

First-person shooter (FPS) is a video game genre centered around gun and other weapon-based combat in a first-person perspective; that is, the player experiences the action through the eyes of the protagonist. The genre shares common traits with other shooter games, which in turn makes it fall under the heading action game. Since the genre's inception, advanced 3D and pseudo-3D graphics have challenged hardware development, and multiplayer gaming has been integral.

You´re playing in "3D", you´re spotting in 3D.
- There is still nothing specifically 3 dimensional about spotting though.

Is there anything 3-dimensional in the game in your opinion?
If you use the periscope or look at the killcam, your opponent has a red edging. Is that 3D for you?
I know that you´re sitting in front of a 2D-screen without 3D glasses like in cinemas, but it is still a first person shooter.
