XP on battlelog not the same as servers end game total. (Update: Ribbons not adding XP)

Hi

I've noticed this repeatedly from different servers. 

a couple of times I've ranked up broken over the xp barrier during the end game xp total. I can be playing the game alt tab and battlelog will have updated with values less than what the server totaled up.

In the next game I'm back to just under the xp value I had and then rank up again in that match.

Sometimes I've logged out after a match and the xp has increased but not as much as the server totaled up.

Whats going on?

EDIT: Thanks Quxstar for pointing out the Ribbons aren't adding XP

    Ribbons points are not being added at all, I've ranked up in game then gone to battlelog to find out I haven't.  Other people are reporting XP points just not being added to score at all.  It's just part of the overall mess this game is.

    Thats it! Looking at the way it tallys up its always when the ribbons are added that the XP is missing! Thats rediculous, they can make up a large amount of points.

    I really hope EA and DICE decide to give the community a double XP weekend or something similar to compensate for all the issues. (Even though that wont help me as I can't play often) I don't know anyone I play with that doesn't have crashes or lockups on top of issues like this one.

    Its becoming increasingly annoying to play a game for once not have it crash and be disapointed by another game mechanic going wrong.

    This only happens to me when I try to load out on my vehicles, it's kind of dumb because Ive noticed that when i maxed out my grenades in game, every XP after that wasnt being added. So what if, when i max out vehicles in game, will it add XP to battlelog?
