You have lost connection to EA servers... But only on some games....

Hello all,

I have been running into a strange issue over the past month that has caused me to be unable to play Battlefield 1 as well as loose all icons that show up on the menu screens inside of all my EA games. When I launch Battlefield 1 it auto launches into the campaign, I quit out and it takes me to the main menu of Battlefield 1. It shows that I have lost connection to EA servers, and no matter how many times I try it continues to be offline. I check my origin and its online, no issues with it.

Now is where it gets weird. If I go into battlefield 4, I can get into any server I want on Battlefield 4. The strange thing is that I am still missing icons on all the menus. Along with that if I play an online game it acts as though it is my first time playing, showing the tutorial and how things work. (I have played both games for years). In the main menu of Battlefield 4 can look at servers that are active on Battlefield 1, I can search though them, click them, but once I choose one to go into the screen goes completely black with only the header of the server visible. If I do get lucky and click on the join button within the blackness, it launches Battlefield 1 and shows the same issue with being offline. So I can see the servers through Battlefield 4 for Battlefield 1, but can't connect to them.

Things I have tried to fix the issue.

- Reinstall Windows

- Reinstall Origin

- Reinstall Battlefield 1

- Apply Battlefield 1 to firewall and virus exception list

- Do a clean startup

- Launching in safe mode

- Setting Origin as run as admin

- Setting Battlefield run as admin

- Reset network information, clear DNS, ect...

- Most if not all recommended fixes have been tried.

My Setup (I have had it the same for years and have played both on it without issue for years)

- i5-4670k

- XFX R9 290

- ASRock H81 Pro BTC

- 16 GB Ram

- Windows 10

TLDR: I cannot connect to EA servers in Battlefield 1, I always show as offline. But I can connect and play Battlefield 4, as well as view all servers for Battlefield 1 while inside of Battlefield 4. I have tried multiple fixes that have done nothing to help the issue.  This just recently started to happen, I have been playing both for years prior to this.

If you need anymore pictures or info let me know. I really wish i could get this fixed so i can play.

Thanks for the help in advance!

  • I've had the same "Lost connection to EA servers" for about the past week with BF1. I spoke with an EA Advisor earlier today about this issue and we were able to fix it by allowing the BF1 and Origin apps through Controlled folder access in the Windows Security Ransomware protection. If you go to Windows Security > Ransomware Protection > allow an app through Controlled folder access, and then add origin.exe, bf1.exe, and bf1Trial.exe, it might fix it for you. You might have to restart your PC for the changes to sync as well.

origin.exe is in Program Files (x86)/Origin and the games are in Program Files (x86)/Origin Games. Hope this helps!
