This is pure and simple - there have been several different versions released since its launch, and no way for vanilla users to upgrade it to the recent content! Virtually every other EA game offers this, so Battlefield V should be no exception.
You'd just need to buy the catch up packs or the weapons and vehicles individually using Company Coin.
