BF V & 4 - Audio cuts out (if not fixed, going to be issue in BF2042)

are there any battlefield devs in here actually? reason why i am asking is there is an audio cutting out issue in battlefield 4 and battlefield 5 on pc using origin! and after a few days of fully testing basically everything i found and isolated the real issue at hand which got never fixed by DIC nor EA which is if i may be so bold an honest to say quite embarrassing while loads of players have suggested a fix which also never got implemented ive found a work around fix but the problem at hand MUST be fixed otherwise i foresee the exact same problem coming to Battlefield 2042!!!!

so far i have litterly tried everything thats on forums and on Youtube, however non of these solutions work.. 100% solutions are a wett thumb in the air see how the wind flows solutions.

things ive tried:

- alter the provsave_profile txt file (which does only alter the in game audio/video settings) so no need to alter in txt file)

- re-install game

- repair game

- re-install other drivers such as the MS C++ files

- give admin rights to bfv.exe and origin.exe

- changing settings in origin app

- changing audio types (in game)

- changing audio settings in windows

all above so called solutions are not solutions, also a clean boot which EA suggests is NOT a solution!

bare in mind my system is fully up to date in Windows and its drivers, so thats NOT the problem!

also i have fully tested my devices which i use in game Astro A50 Gen3 and also looked to these settings aswell my 5Ghz wifi signal in my modem, due to the fact some wifi channels can interfere with this device

The problem is in this case as fully testes and isolated is towards the poor coded BF5 and BF4 menu and selection screens in combination using a wireless or wired headset with a mic!

when launching the game 5/10 when the screen loads in the sound cuts out where i eventually have to open my sound settings on the device i use and enable then disable the enhancement setting, when loading up for an actual online game the sound pretty much does not cut out but when i back out after that to the multiplayer or what ever menu screen i can put the clock to that certain time where i know it will cut out. and here is the problem. The game initially loads in a windowed screen and having your video setting to fullscreen or borderless the game does not load up correctly but see's it as a semi background task although it transitions to fullscreen/borderless and you can easily move on from there but still the sound of course cuts out. the other reason why sound cuts out is being in the menu screen and using a Astro A50 wireless Gen3 device or any wireless or wired headset for that matter the game wants to push the sound through the mic instead of the headphone speakers (opening sound settings and adjusting the enhancement) like i said resolves the issue towards some point where it will happen again and again and again! the underlying problem is while in a menu screen the mic is not used although you have one equipped but not active on the headset (in my case for the astro A50 Gen3 i set it up right where the mic is disabled, so its off!) so in this case the mic icon in the right bottom of windows is not shown but when you load up for an actual game in multiplayer the mic icon appears and it could so happen that in this case the sound cuts out and wants to use the mic to play the game audio, in my case its the other way around... when a game is finished i back out to the menu and there when the transitioning from voip (while not active and disabled) the sound usually cuts out in like 2/3 minutes just letting the same menu screen set on the screen... the mic icon in windows dissapears and thats where the issue also is, to much trying to connect a device while not being used or active and disabled in the game settings. also another issue while wide variety of games give you the option to select an actual audio device BF4 and BF5 just give you audio modes and thats also a problem! a problem to be honest which never got fixed by either DICE or EA and if so if this is not fixed it will also be a problem in Battlefield 2042!

the problem so far is fully concluded due to the fact ive identified the issue and isolated it towards 7 aspects

1. the game does not load up correctly towards where you have set the in game resolution (fullscreen / borderless)

2. due to point 1 the game is set as a semi-background task, not fully recognizing the audio device being used

3. sorry to say but poorly developed menu screens which overload and try to connect to a device (mic) which is set off in game and disabled/not active on the device itself

4. also Windows is to blame which in the microphone privacy settings you can disable desktop apps from accessing the mic (while trying that one the game audio didnt cut out) because it's denied to use the mic during playing Battlefield 5 or 4! but this is NOT a solution... its a work around however it can not be used due to the fact it will disable Discord mic acces etc.

5. No adjustments towards audio or the so called workarounds or clean boot suggestion works!

6. the game does not give you the option to select an actual audio and mic device IN GAME which in my opinion is a problem

7. the game wants to push the audio from the headset speakers through the mic

Im thus far of using a virtual audio cable to see if i can manually trick the game in using that virtual "mic device" where it does not cut out my audio which ill post later on if that does do the job, however that said... this issue after so much years really has to get fixed NOW because its very very very annoying dealing with this where devs and EA already should have taken action years ago! if not it WILL be a problem in Battlefield 2042 i can say that without a doubt. so till now my conclusions

ill post if the virtual audio cable work around works.

but like i said a work around is just a work around... it needs to get fixed

to state clear by the way i only have this issue in BF5 and BF4 all other games that i play do not have audio cut outs or what ever issue

  • try reducing the output to 16bit instead of 24bit that can help on older hardware.

24 bit or 16 bit is no solution, already tried that as the Astro A50 headset standard works on 16 bit on usb. and as i stated the issue is where the game(s) want to push the audio through the mic instead of the headset speakers, so your suggestion is invalid

then im going to say driver or some sort of audio volume leveling issue.

have you red my post completely?

audio settiings are fine, drivers are fine and up to date.. im an it technician so i know what im doing.

its purely a bad coding issue in correlation with windows.

like i said when i go in to windows settings, microphone privacy and disable the "acces desktop apps" to the mic where bf4 and bf5 is located in the audio cutting out issue is gone. however that, thats no solution due to then it also disables the mic acces to lets say discord.

so my last resort is to use a virtual audio cable situation or when EA and DICE actually does something towards this problem which never got fixed in the first place.

but to clarify, ill create a yt video later explaining what the issue is and what causes the issue because i already know however EA and DICE at this point lacking to fix a core issue in my opinion.. if so its gonna be an issue in bf2042 which im highly confident about

alright a slight update on the issue.

i've tested to work around the issue with virtual audio cable and till now tested for couple of hours its working and no audio cut outs. also it seems to extensively has a positive reaction towards game performance which means no stutter in fps, no stutter in audio, no sound missing like footsteps and such!

like i already knew and concluded, the game is not wel coded in meaning of audio support and needs to be actually fixed ASAP!

i will create a extensive video for this how to resolve the issue in which case this is a work around to NOT have audio missing or cut outs.

after that i will close this thread and send it through to DICE and EA and hopefully they do something about it after 3 years?!!

no that is defenitive not the case as i already stated its only in bf5 and bf4 its a coding issue in correlation with windows.

as i also stated i already found a work around fix by using virtual audio cable and thus explaining it in a video..

assuming its my system is far fetched and wildly invalid aswell..

comments are welcome but so far the comments to me are quite useless and of no knowledge let alone how a pc works
