BF5 Crashing during start-up
Hello!
I have had BF5 since release and have been able to play fine for a long time. I stopped playing the game about 7-8 months ago and did not update the game. Come this week I went to boot Origin and completed the required update to the game. It gave me a warning about overwriting cloud data since the data on my pc was from 2019 and the cloud data was from 2020. Didn't think anything of it and selected to overwrite local with cloud from 2020. Game booted in and i was met with the "update required" notification from the main screen in game. It showed it updated attempted to restart. Heres where the fail begins. The game will start up and show me the BF5 ultimate edition load screen. It will keep loading that for about 20 secs and goes black for a second and I see like the glitched overlay of the friends in game on the bottom right where it keeps trying to load before going black and crashing out. No error code, no warning, just shuts back off and goes into origin library. Here's what I've tried:
- Cleared cache process x5 (yesterday)
- Repair game x3 (yesterday)
- Complete uninstall / reinstall (last night)
At this point I think there may be a problem with the cloud save data that is causing the game not to know what to do. I do not have a local copy of the save data as it was overwritten by the cloud copy and of course deleting everything from the pc for the fresh install. I'm not sure where to take it from here. I have Malwarebytes installed (no issues showing), my drivers for Nvidia are up to date, PC updates are all completed. The only change to the PC since last time I played was I went from 1080p monitor to 1440p, but considering the game shows up on screen it doesn't seem that is the issue. Thanks for reading through all that. Please help?
- @bandaidpro OK so tech support helped me out. I renamed my "Battlefield V" folder inside Documents to something else so the game would do it's thing and redownload. Game works now. There is something wrong with the files inside the original "BFV" file. Not sure what it is.
