BF5 does not start (detected AMD Radeon driver 0.0.0) Windows 10 / AMD Vega 64

Product: Battlefield V
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number PowerColor AMD Vega 64
Enter RAM memory size in GB 8
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Game Menu
In which game menu were you when the bug occurred? Start
Please select your region Europe
On which server did this happen?
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) always
Summarize your bug I have a fresh Windows 10 Pro installation (all updates installed), an AMD Vega 64 graphics card with the latest driver from AMD. The card runs seamlessly with all other applications including benchmark software or Ghost Recon Wildlands. I searched for a solution for quite a while, tried to uninstall (AMD uninstaller as well as DDU) and reinstalled the graphics drivers and even tried the registry workaround - with no effect. I am pretty pissed at this point. Why the hell it is necessary to prevent an application from starting? A message informing about possibly encountering issues due to incompartible gfx drivers would have been enough. Is there a way to bypass this check procedure?
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? see above
What happens when the bug occurs? the game wont start
What should be happening instead? the game should start

    Hi!

    1. Create file called user.cfg inside game dir.

    2. Open it and input:

    RenderDevice.DxDiagDriverDetectionEnable 0

    3. Close and save.

    You done.

  • I am just now having this same issue. I have NEVER had an AMD GPU in my machine before, so there are no old files to clean up.

I installed a 6800 XT, using the latest certified drivers directly from AMD, then installed the driver-only package.

Now BF5 gives me the same detection as 0.0.0.

The .cfg tip does not work per the last post.

  • This is on the older side of time, I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with Battlefield V please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.

Hi everybody, there is a simple fix by disabling the Driver Check completely and don't worry anymore :)

    1. open "Regedit"
    2. Look for "Battlefield V" in the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA Games\" or similar
    3. Press "New" and add "String Value" with the Name "DriverCheck" and add the Value "0" in it
    4. Done :)

    hope this helps!

here is a screenshot how it does look like for me: (Sorry my Windows is in German)
